Nike SB Skateboarding

In 2002 Nike put together a team of designers and innovators and formed a branch which would design products geared towards the skateboarding industry. That branch is what we know as Nike SB or Nike Skateboarding.

The team at Nike SB wasnt initially accepted by the skateboarding industry due to the fact many skaters didnt support the fact that a corporate giant like Nike, who never had anything to do with skateboarding, was trying to jump into a market already full of full on companies making skate shoes.

Inorder to generate some buzz and get the line some attention Nike SB worked with four professional skateboarders to debut four Nike SB Dunks part of the ‘Artist Series’. The four skateboarders which Nike worked with are Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder, Reese Forbes, and Danny Supa.

Today the Nike SB branch is an empire in the skateboarding industry and in the sneaker market in general. The branch now creates numerous Nike models with the Nike SB touch, including many limited edition models which we have seen go for prices in the thousands. What sort of makes the sneakers exclusive is the fact that Nike SB only distributes the sneakers at select retailers, making them a little bit harder to get then a regular pair of Nikes or Air Jordans.

Nike SB sneakers arent just for skateboarders these days, due to the sneakers turning into such a popular item with limited edition models and quickstrike release many sneakerheads have started to collect Nike SB shoes, mainly Nike SB Dunks. If you browse eBay you can clearly see that besides for Air Jordans Nike SB Dunks are some of the most sought after sneakers on the market.
