Earlier today on Twitter, I posted Photoshop renders of South Beach inspired colorways of the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95 which many of the Sneaker Obsession Twitter followers were really liking. Since the general fan base had a looksey and liked them, we decided to put up a “Would You Rock Em??” poll and give the masses a chance to vote on whether or not they would wear either of the two.

Black Friday Sneaker Releases

This Black Friday is one of the biggest we’ve seen in years for sneaker releases. From Jordan Brand to Nike to Converse, most of the major footwear companies have some special on deck for the biggest shopping day of the year. We added them add and in total there are 21 sneakers and 1 boot schedule to hit the shelves on November 26th. That breaks down into 4 Air Jordan releases, 9 Nike releases, one of which is from Nike 6.0 and another from Nike SB, 1 release each from Converse, New Balance and adidas Consortium, all of which are collaborations, 5 new releases from Supra and finally a boot from DC Life. With such a broad and diverse selection, there’s something for sneaker enthusiasts of all kinds to enjoy this year.

Our last edition of “Would You Rock Em??” concluded with just over half (57%) of Sneaker Obsession readers voting in favor of the Nike Dunk High “Las Vegas”. For our latest installment to this special segment we bring you the Nike Dunk High Black/Grey-Blue Rage. This Dunk was designed by myself and it’s inspired by nothing but a dope color palette that works wonders together.

Our last edition of “Would You Rock Em??” concluded with almost 69% of Sneaker Obsession readers voting in favor of the Nike Dunk High “Football”. This time we test of fate of the Nike Dunk High “Las Vegas”. This Las Vegas-inspired design was submitted by Sneaker Obsession reader @YoungDeveron who used a color palette consisting of green, grey, white, red and yellow, and incorporated a variety of numbers to bring his Las Vegas-themed Dunk to life.

Would You Rock Em?? – Nike Dunk High “Football”

Yesterday, Nike announced they’ve come to terms on a contact with the NFL which will turn them into the official league sponsor by 2012. We figured, what better way to celebrate then giving one of their most iconic models a pigskin makeover. For this segment of “Would You Rock Em??” we present you with the football-inspired Nike Dunk High. With a base constructed mostly from premium brown leathers, the key feature to the sneakers is the textured pigskin leather wrapping around the toe and covering the wing/heel area. The Swoosh and shoelaces were left white to resemble the laces across the top of a football and the midsole stitching and outsole take on hits of black to represent the NFL embroidery found on a league-issued football.

13 Sneakers Honoring Independence Day

234 years ago on July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the United States Declaration of Independence declaring the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain independence from the British Empire, thus creating the United States. As the birthday of the United States of America, the Fourth of July, formally known as Independence Day, is one of the largest celebrated holidays. Big cities and small towns across the nation host parades, carnivals, barbecues, ceremonies, fireworks and a ton of other special events to honor our independence and freedom.

To mark this special day we put together 13 Sneakers Honoring Independence Day. While there’s a boatload of red, white and blue sneakers on the market which would go great with any patriotic outfit you may be planning to wear, we narrowed the lineup down to 13 releases designed specifically for Independence Day. There’s two things well expected in the sneaker world when it comes to 4th of July-themed releases. American flags and American colors. No matter how much either of the two are reused you really can’t argue given the time of year and what it means to our country. For their 1997 release of the Air Force 1 Mid CL “Independence Day” Nike went with the traditional USA color scheme using White, Varsity Red and Midnight Navy on an upper mixed from glossy leather and pebbled leather. Being a late 90′s releases this AF1 Mid has the jewel Swoosh, one of my favorite elements on the old Air Force 1′s. Bring back the Jewels, Nike!!!

Would You Rock Em?? – Premium Pete’s Foamposite Edition

For Would You Rock Em?? – Issue 7 we’ve put together a little something different then what you’re use to seeing in this segment. Since we launched the concept back in July 2009 we’ve been featuring various colorways of Dunks and AF1′s that we designed in Photoshop, allowing you to vote for whichever ones you would rock. This week however we’ve dropped the Dunks and Air Force 1′s and cleared the floor for something totally different, a pack of Air Foamposite One’s.

Premium Pete, formerly from Premium Laces in NYC, is one of many sneakerheads who has an uncontrollable love for the Nike Air Foamposite One. As many of us do when it comes to our favorite sneaker, Pete visioned some Foamposite releases of his own, in colorways which he feels would make a splash on the retail floor. With the help of graphic designer Dsicle who contributed his fine Photoshop skills, Pete was able to take his visions and put em on paper as they say.

Since I too have a strong desire for the Foamposites and know a lot of you do as well, I’ve based this issue of Would You Rock Em?? around Premium Pete’s visions and Discle’s renderings. In total there are three designs, the Space Jam Foamposites, the Kryptonate Foamposites and the Glowposites, all of which are pretty dope in my opinion and well worthy of being production models. To get a closer look at all three and place your votes for whichever ones you’d rock please follow the jump.

Premium Pete’s vision for this Foamposite was to use the signature colorway from the ever popular Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”.

Premium Pete’s vision for this Foamposite was to use the colorway from the Kryptonate Foamposite Lite which Nate Robinson wore during the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

For this version Premium Pete envisioned a Foamposite One constructed from a 3M upper with Glow In The Dark detailing on the outsole, Nike Swoosh, and the rest of the secondary color accents. Shortly after displaying them on Twitter Premium Pete came up with the nickname “Glowposites” thanks to the suggestions of his followers.

Top 20 Valentine’s Day Sneakers

With Valentines Day only a few days away every retailer known to man is pushing their Valentines Day products as hard as they can. Boxes of candy, stuffed animals, jewelry and all sort of little doodads are plastered in front of your face no matter where you look. From the malls, to the grocery store, to the drugstore. There’s nowhere you can go to escape it, not even to one of your local sneaker boutiques as Valentines Day releases are arriving one after the other from companies such as Nike, adidas, Converse and Supra.

Needless to say, love is defiantly in the air right now. We may have even caught a whiff of it too cause for some reason or another we were compelled to put together a list of our favorite Valentines Day sneakers. From shoes with hearts and arrows to messages telling you love sucks we went through em all and finally came up with our Top 20 Valentine’s Day Sneakers which are more then stylish for the holiday geared towards the love birds out there.

Note: The sneakers are listed in no specific order and this isn’t a countdown post to the all time greatest.

Puma First Round “Kiss”

Giving us their own twist on a Valentines Day themed sneaker is Puma with the First Round “Kiss”. This is one of the many shoes designed this year to honor Valentines Day and if you remember we just took a look at these the other week. The sneakers feature a white leather base accented with red and silver. The key element to the sneakers and what gives them their name is pair of red lips included on the lateral side of the upper making it appear as if some foxy lady laid a wet one on the shoes. It hasn’t been reported whether these are for the ladies or guys, but we’re speculating this is a womens release.

Saturday Morning Commercials – SHAQ ATTACK

It’s been a few months since you’ve seen it around which is why we’re pleased to present you with a new segment of Saturday Morning Commercials. In the past we’ve featured a Reebok Pump Series, an LA Gear Collection, the David Robinson commercial series from the 90′s known as Mister Robinsons Neighborhood, a Hyperdunk Collection and a lineup of every single Air Jordan Commercial made to promote his signature sneakers.

For this segment of Saturday Morning Commercials we put together the SHAQ ATTACK, a collection commercials featuring none other then Shaquille O’Neal. From his signature sneakers with Reebok and Li-Ning, down to the ads he filmed for Taco Bell, Pepsi, Burger King, All Sport, Comcast, VitaminWater and more. Shaq was defiantly the king of commercials in the early 90s, even giving Jordan a run for his money when it came to air time on the tube. It came as no surprise though seeing as how Shaq was one of the most hyped athletes when he entered the NBA. Specially when he was breaking all those backboards. People were loving that.
