Arriving just in time for tomorrows release of the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Oreo”, is the latest edition of SN’EADS, our favorite and your favorite sneakerhead comic strip. In Issue #4, titled “Got Kix?”, one of the characters from the series takes the nickname a little too literal and actually try’s to devour one.

Are the Oreo’s really that tasty? Find out for yourself when they release tonight at Midnight. You’re gonna need a big bowl of milk for these!!

SN’EADS by R E E, the one and only sneakerhead comic, presents us with Issue #3 entitled “Revenge”. This issue features a very familiar face on a mission to reclaim what is rightfully his. We’ll give you a hint, it involves a recently released Nike SB Quickstrike and somebody who’s usually seen chasing pudding.

For those of you who didn’t get the joke the comic is inspired by the Dr. Huxtable Nike SB Dunks. Take notice to the sweater Dr. Huxtable is holding too and the shape of the cutout. It spells out dunk.

In a bold decision which is sure to change the game forever Nike and it’s affiliate Cole Hanna announced that they will stop selling products that are made from exotic skins. PETA presented Nike with video footage from an undercover sting put on in Asia exposing the extreme suffering caused by the exotic-skins industry and after reviewing the footage the company made the decision to never use exotic skins again, starting with their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. According to Nike’s revised company policy, “Animal Skins must not be any species considered to be exotic. Examples include, but are not limited to alligator, crocodile, lizard, snake, ostrich, fish, marine mammals, etc.” This decision also effects Cole Haan which Nike Inc. purchased in 1988.

I gotta admit, it’s sad to see the skins go, but at the same time it’s always sick to see how the exotic-skin industry is conducted in such a brutal way. If you’re a fan of the exotic release we’ve seen over the years you better hunt around for em now cause we’re sure the prices are gonna get higher now that exotic skins will never appear on another pair of Nike or Cole Haan shoes. History in the making folks.

So before you watch it we’ll let you know what goes on. A lizard is seen caught in a noose by his tail, upside down, in the wild. Other lizards are decapitated, and some of the animals writhe in agony as they are skinned alive. A live snake is nailed to a tree by it’s head, and it’s body is cut open from one end to the other before it’s skinned alive. A worker clubs alligators on a crowded, filthy factory farm until they stop moving, but some animals remain alive and are seen writhing in pain. View at your own risk.

SN’EADS by R E E, the official comic for sneakerheads returns with issue #2 entitled “Deadstock Grails” which plays on the recently released Air Jordan VI’s.

Two weeks ago we featured Issue #1 of SN’EADS and based on the comments left on Facebook and Twitter a lot of you were really into the comic and couldn’t wait to see more. Actually, the feedback was tremendous throughout the whole sneaker community, not just with our following. From TheShoeGame, to NiceKicks to ObsessiveSneakerDisorder, SN’EADS quickly made it’s way around the web and onto the screens of millions throughout the world. We couldn’t be happier for Tyree Dillihay either, the artist behind the comic who uses the nickname R E E. Our community has been missing something like this for a long time and finally it’s been introduced to us, by a man with a plan no less, a man who is ensuring that SN’EADS will be a lasting image. We had a chance to talk with R E E after featuring his first comic and although we can’t speak on a lot of the things discussed during our conversation we can tell you that this is only the beginning of whats to come. BIG THINGS are on the way and you can best believe that SN’EADS will evolve and expand in a major way.

As a young kid I enjoyed many things in life, just as any young kid does. Among the list of things I took an interest in then and still continue to take an interest in today is comics. Whether it be full on comic books or just a series of a few sketches, I usually find something of interest in all of them. Specially those Far Side sketches and the classic Garfield comics and all the newspaper comics. I guess it keeps the kid in me.

Somebody else who has a thing for comics is Tyree Dillihay, one of our fellow sneakerheads who goes by name R E E. Growing up with a passion for comics and art, among other things, Tyree turned his efforts towards cartoons and became an inspired cartoonist. As any artist Tyree pondered together some ideas on what original idea he could contribute to the cartoon/comic industry and how exactly he could make his mark. Having a thing for sneakers as well as comics Tyree decided to fuse his love for both and create a comic series based off the two. This is where Sn’eads comes to life, a comic series “about a group of sneakerheads and their mishaps, adventures, life lessons, etc. all for the love of sneakers,” according to Tyree.

Well known photographer/artist Romain Laurent has captured this image which im sure a lot of us can relate to. One of the complications many sneakerheads face when it comes to their sneaker obsession is the lack of room to store their sneakers. Some are lucky enough to have separate rooms which they can dedicate to their sneaker obsession but for a lot of the younger generation out they are, for now, stuck to stocking their sneakers in their bedrooms either setup somehow around the room or just piled in the closet.

Every so often we come across pictures of some sort of crazy sneaker display setup showing off a collectors collection. Back in March we posted some pictures of an insane Air Jordan Display Case showing off all 24 Air Jordan models. We have now come across some images of a LeBron James Signature sneaker collection displayed on a custom wire frame setup. Although not the nicest of setups you defiantly have to respect the collection and how its displayed within the given space in the room. Theres also a section of the wall which has various Air Jordans and Nike releases such as my personal favs, the royal blue Foams.

When i woke up this morning i was still in shock about how DJ was found dead early yesterday evening in his NYC apartment. I personally only had the chance to meet him once but after yucking it up for about 10-15minutes i felt like i knew DJ AM for years. Thats just the kind of guy he was, he didnt act like he had celebrity status and was a level above the “average folks”.

Late last night, in honor of his life and his serious passion for sneakers we presented you the DJ AM Sneaker Collection Video which was filmed back in 2006 for MTV News.

Sneaker Obsession will be free of updates from April 4th to April 13th. I will be taking a much need vacation with my girlfriend down to Florida for a week. Unfortunately this will be a work free vacation, which means no working on a laptop and no updates on the blog while i am away. Its painful but im sure ill survive. You also wont catch me on Twitter or any other social network site either.

Expect plenty of updates when i get back and a few new features as well. The site should even be on a new server by then as well, which will speed things back up to normal and get rid of the delays. Until then, stay safe.
