When it comes to racing gear, Puma is on top of its game. Just turn on a NASCAR event or Formula One race for proof. Puma is the automotive industry’s leading manufacturer of driving shoes and racing suits. So wherever there’s high-octane action involved, you can be sure to see the big cat logo somewhere on the track.

Puma has a longstanding relationship with the Ferrari F1 team that grants them exclusive rights to produce officially licensed Ferrari products. Our favorite items, obviously, are the sneakers branded with the exotic car company’s signature logo, like the Puma Drift Cat III shown here. Puma x Sneaker Freaker x Nash x MF Doom Sneaker Speakers

UK sneaker customizer Nash Money shocked the world earlier this year when he took an ordinary pair of white-on-white Air Force 1′s and transformed them into a pair of sneaker speakers.

Impressed with his handiwork, Sneaker Freaker reached out to the Nash to collaborate on a new sneaker speaker setup to be featured in their newest issue, issue 21. This time around, Puma got involved in the project and provided Nash with their giant 40-something-size Puma Suede model to work with, giving him much more to work with and essentially allowing him to build a better speaker.

Being Puma’s also in the entertainment business these days, the group decided to get an artist involved to endorse the project. Without hesitation, Nash quickly suggested his favorite artist, MF Doom, who was just as quick to cosign the project once he caught wind of it. The British hip hop artist provided some specifications on what needed to be done to make the system Doom-certified and Nash went to work on putting it all together.

Much more than just a sneaker speaker like the AF1, this is a mobile entertainment system with the best woofers, tweeters and mids, four input terminals to hook up an iPod, laptop, or any other music device, an LCD screen for barometric pressure readouts, two ports for a mic, strobe lights and a megawatt amp. We’re told the system kicks (no pun intended), too, putting out an easy 40 RMS, which is insane given the fact we’re talking about a sound system within a sneaker.

Puma S Vulc – Puma’s Skate-Ready Suede

The Puma Suede gets a skate-ready makeover.

One of the most iconic shoes in Puma’s arsenal, the Suede, once worn by Tommy Smith at the 1968 Olympic Games, has been revamped into a skateboarding shoe known simply as the Puma S. The original design and shape of the silhouette remains the same as the Suede, however, the original sole is replaced with a more durable vulcanized sole. It’s also reported that the tongue has some added cushioning, like any great skate shoe should have. If you can’t determine the difference between the basketball and skateboarding version, there’s always the Puma S hit on the side of the upper, with S standing for skate we assume, to clear things up.

The Puma S Vulc is available now at select Puma accounts, where you can find these three colorways and more in men, kids and toddler sizes.

Puma Basket “Golden Since ’68″ Pack

The 43 year-old Puma Basket returns this year in a series of new and original colorways. To celebrate the heritage of the silhouette, which is basically a leather-based version of the Puma Suede introduced in 1968, Puma presents the “Golden Since ’68″ Pack. The pack contains three colorways of the Basket, each featuring a leather upper, a suede formstripe and a gold leather lining fit for a king. The color options include a pair in black with a matching black formstripe and two pairs in white, one with a red formstripe and the other with a blue formstripe. Each pair comes with an extra pair of gold laces packaged in a Puma-branded jewelery pouch and what looks to be some sort of little booklet, possibly giving you a quick history lesson on the Basket.

The Puma Basket “Golden Since ’68″ Pack is available now through select Puma distributors, including the Caliroots-owned sneaker boutique Six Feet Down.

UNDFTD x Puma Clyde Canvas Collection – Preview Images

UNDFTD and Puma aren’t quite done with the Clyde just yet. After c0-releasing a pack of stripe-less Clyde’s earlier this month, UNDFTD and Puma are gearing up to launch a collection of canvas-based models where the formstripe makes a return. UNDFTD has released a few preview photos of the sneakers to keep us occupied while we wait for further release details. Previewed in the photos are three pairs of the Puma Clyde in white, yellow and blue, each featuring a canvas upper and a white sole. Puma’s brand name and UNDFTD’s five-strike logo grace the tongue tag and the names of both companies appear on the insoles.

Hanon x Puma Dallas Deluxe Collection

Coming off a recent collaboration with Reebok on the Pump Omni Zone, Hanon hooks up with Puma for a co-branded sneaker collection. Working with Puma’s iconic 1980′s Dallas Deluxe silhouette, the Scottish boutique put together a lineup of four premium color options, each featuring a tonal suede upper with nubuck overlays, leather formstripes and an argyle inner liners. Hanon’s signature “Keep Burning” flame logo appears on the tongue tag beneath the Puma brand name and again on the argyle insoles. Slated to release exclusively through Hanon sometime in April, the sneakers will come packaged in a numbered wooden whisky-styled box and will come with a limited edition woven argyle scarf.

Puma Cat 2 ST “MA-1 Bomber Jacket Pack”

Converse, adidas, New Balance and Vans have all previously introduced sneakers with a MA-1 bomber jacket theme which were well-received by consumers. Can Puma prove to be just as successful as its peers with its own bomber jacket inspired model?

Introducing the Puma Cat 2 ST “MA-1 Bomber Jacket Pack”. Featuring the Cat 2 ST silhouette, an updated version of the Puma Cat, a basketball shoe from the early 90′s, the pack includes Army Green/Orange and Black/Orange colorways which contain uppers constructed from leather and mesh, with leather detailing on the inner linings. Each sneakers also includes special printing on the outer heel to resemble a government issued product.

It’s unknown if the Puma Cat 2 ST “MA-1 Bomber Jacket Pack” will release in the US, but select retailers overseas are stocking the sneakers now including Mita.

size? x Jon Burgerman x Puma First Round

size? and Jon Burgerman renew their affiliation from a previous collaboration in 2007 for the 5th and final installment of the Reaction Pack belonging to size?’s 10th Anniversary Collection. The Puma First Round is the sneaker of choice for the collaborative release and unlike the other 4 releases in the Reaction Pack where size? and the other collaborator each designed their own sneaker, both of these are designed by Jon himself. It’s said that the unique artwork throughout the uppers is inspired from the sneakers Jon currently owns and the “lives” they lead, with graphics displaying the twisted world seen from a sneaker eye view.

Limited to a total of 170 pairs, with 130 of the white and only 40 of the red, the sneakers are shceduled to release on December 11th, 2010 exclusively through size?.
