Volkswagen Polo 444

In conjunction with the Polo, the supermini subcompact car from Volkswagen, Hing Yueng developed a limited edition sneaker called the Polo 444 to release alongside the new 2010 Polo. The shoe, which is said to be named after the cars length in measurement, features a silhouette inspired by the sleek shape of the new VDub Polo with detailing taking cues from the interior of the car. According to the Polo 444 website and the press release provided the sneakers are limited to 50 pairs total and will only be made available through select Volkswagen dealerships within Europe. If you happen to be one of your European readers located in Amsterdam they’ll be an official unveiling of the shoes which you’ll be able to attend this coming Friday, March 19th, at Jefferson Hotel in Amsterdam.

General Motors Introduces Cadillac Sneakers

With the sneaker industry currently at it’s peak and reaching heights none of us could of pictured back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, everybody and their mother is looking for some sort of way to get in on the market and capitalize off the consumers. While some brands broke into the industry with style and success, others simply embarrassed themselves one way or another. Which is what exactly we feel General Motors is doing to themselves with a footwear line of Cadillac sneakers.

In what comes as a surprise to us, and sort of seems like a joke at the same time, GM has released their own line of footwear under the Cadillac brand name. Several different silhouettes have been released under names such as Coupe STS, Coupe LE, Spoke, Spoke 2, Spoke Brent, Derby, Seville, Reno, Contrail and the Atlante. Some of them are defiantly fashionable, but the fact they have been released under the Cadillac name just doesn’t appeal to me and leaves me feeling like they’re “lame”. Don’t get me wrong, I have long loved Caddies, including the old classic ones from the 50’s and 60’s, but to have the Cadillac name on my shoes is an entirely different story and not something I can really get down with. To each their own though.

Radii Footwear Spring 2010 – Entire Collection

Celebrities can literally put a brand on the map and bring total awareness to the company and it’s products by doing nothing more then wearing what they make. When hip hop artists such as Jay-Z and T-Pain were seen wearing sneakers produced by Radii Footwear, a brand which was hardly talked about online at the time, the web was flooded with people looking for more info about the shoes and within a few short days Radii Footwear became a company many are well familiar with.

Dr. Romanelli x Levi’s “California Beach” Pack Preview

Dr. Romanelli is by far one of the most prominent brands in today’s streetwerar industry, serving us with some of the most unique collections the market has to offer. They’ve been making a lot of headway lately with some fine collaborations and one which has caught our eye is the “California Beach” Pack, an upcoming capsule collection which is seen here in some preview images provided by DRx. All the details aren’t being given out at this time but by the looks of the preview shots it appears the pack will feature a pair of kicks and some denim Levi’s pants. Levi’s caught a lot of heat last year when they introduced a footwear line clearly ripping off the designs of Supra, Vans and Converse. Given the fact this is a Dr. Romanelli collabo though we’re sure the hypebeasts fans will be all over these no matter what they may appear to knock off. According to reports this collection has been in the works for well over a year and is expected to be releasing sometime this season so make sure you keep it locked for further details and photos in the coming weeks.

PF Flyers Boxcut Center – Grey/Red/White

It’s been our pleasure to see PF Flyers make a comeback, having been a fan of the company and their shoes since I was just a little kid. The company has a long standing history which dates back to 1933 when BF Goodrich patented the Posture Foundation insole and started incorporating it into their Goodrich action shoes and with over 75 years in the game it’s good to see the company still going hard with their casual models and basketball sneakers.

One of my personal favorites from the PF Flyers lineup has got to be the Boxcut Center shown here, a basketball sneaker originally released in the 50’s. The old school look is just as fashionable today as it was 60 years ago. The re-issue models features all the same elements as the OG’s released in the 50’s such as the trademarked ribbed toe bumper, a diamond-patterned outsole and the layered “boxcut” upper made up from canvas and ballistic nylon. This specific version makes us of a Grey/Red/White color scheme, however there are a few others out there if your not interested in this certain colorway so keep your eyes open if you’re interested.

Lacoste Ingaro JT STM – Black/Foxglove

Boat shoes have seen a rise in the industry over the past couple of years and become a staple for sneaker connoisseur’s worldwide. The elegant and timeless designs appeal to those trying to bring their grown man out and have a more sophisticated look while still keeping current with today’s fast paced fashion industry.

One of my personal favorites that’s recently hit the market is the Ingaro JT STM by Lacoste which has so far been released in three colorways, the newest being this Black/Foxglove version. The shoes feature a nautical inspired vamp in Black premium leather with White contrast stitching throughout, Black cross stitch detailing around the toe and Foxglove ventilation eyelets on the lateral side of the upper. A White vulcanized sole sits below the upper with a thick Foxglove pinstripe included around the top to align with the Foxglove inner lining and the Foxglove outline around the Black Lacoste tongue tag.

Gourmet L’Cinque – Black Nubuck & Honey Epi Leather

Like Greedy Genius, Gourmet Footwear was once labeled by consumers as a company ripping off silhouettes released by one of the top players in the game, Jordan Brand. Such a thing can no longer be said as Gourmet releases some of the most exceptional creations in the luxury footwear department such as the L’Cinque shown here in two new versions arriving at select Gourmet distributors. One features a Black nubuck upper with Black leather trim and White contrast stitching. The other one sports a somewhat more sophisticated, high end look with an upper fabricated from a rich Honey Epi Leather. Both are matched with matching laces and countered with a cream colored sole.

Both of these Gourmet L’Cinque colorways are available now at Wish with the Black nubuck version retailing for $125 and the Epi Leather for $205.

Crooks & Castles Fall/Winter 2010 Footwear Preview

Earlier today we gave you a preview of some upcoming releases from DC LIFE currently on displayed at MAGIC in Las Vegas. We hate the fact we couldn’t be there to attend the event ourselves but with all the previews popping up online it’s almost as good as being there, not to mention a lot cheaper. As we expected HighSnobiety has a crew scouting the floors at MAGIC/S.L.A.T.E. in Vegas and they’ve reported back with a grip of photos, including those shown here giving us a look at what’s expected to be released later this year from Crooks & Castles in the footwear department. For their Fall/Winter 2010 Footwear releases the Crooks will be bringing back some of the models which they released in Season One in new colorways and new materials, as well as introducing several all new models to their lineup. It’ll defiantly be an interesting year for Crooks & Castles, not only for their own footwear collection for also for upcoming collaborations their involved in, such as that with Vans which we got a preview of a few weeks back.

Pro Keds Royal Low “Gucci” – Unreleased Sample

For some people Gucci inspired colorways will never get old. From articles of clothing, to sneakers and accessories, if it sports the signature Red and Green colorway made popular by Gucci they just gotta have it. Others though know when it’s time to throw in the towel, and realize when something was overdone a little to much. Take for example Pro Keds. Pro Keds had produced a few sample pairs of this Royal Low using the Gucci colorup. The sneakers are seen with a Black canvas upper, a White sole unit and Green and Red accents scattered throughout. Seeing how saturated the market was become with Gucci inspired colorways Pro Keds decided against releasing the sneakers to the public and squashed any intentions of ever releasing the sneakers. Thankfully Hikmet from Solebox has provided us with a shot of the sneakers giving us a look at what could of been had it not been for a great thing being recycled over and over again in a short period of time.

UNDFTD x Gourmet Quattro @ Karmaloop

This coming weekend there’s a boat load of releases to tickle your fancy and drain your wallets or put your deeper in debt. From the Copper Foamposites, to the Air Jordan 2010, to the Supra Skytop “Heartbreaker” and more, there’s gonna be something for everybody this Saturday. Adding to the frenzy will be the official release of the UNDFTD x Gourmet Quattro at UNDFTD’s retail location in Los Angeles. In a few hours, if not already campers will be lining the street outside UNDFTD waiting on the Saturday, February 13th release of the Quattro which is said to be produced in a limited number.
