Strap Returns To Nike SB Dunk Mid

The strap is back!! Fans of the SB Dunk Mid who were upset to see the ankle strap removed from the model back in 2010 will be happy to hear that you’re complaints have been heard and that Nike SB is planning to reintroduce the strap later this year. Shown below is a photo of an upcoming SB Dunk Mid in a mixture of blue suede and leather that’s scheduled to release sometime during the fall season, and as you can see, the ankle strap is in tack to provide that much-needed extra ankle support for skateboarding. Stay tuned for further updates regarding other possible colorways.

Nike SB January 2012 Releases

The first round of Nike SB sneakers for the new year are starting to arrive at retailers. Available now at Premier are the Nike SB January 2012 releases. Seven models in all, the collection includes a SB Dunk Low in a Navy/Black-Gold, a SB Dunk Mid in Black/Gold dubbed “Golden Hops”, a SB Omar Salazar LR in Navy/White, a SB Stephan Janoski Low and Mid in matching Black/Anthracite colorways, a SB Zoom Bruin in Black/Tiffany, and, finally, a Black/White colorup of the SB Team Edition SE dubbed “SB Chronicles”. One might say that the boys over at Nike SB have somewhat of a drinking problem, having previously released sneakers inspired by Heineken, Cerveza Tecate, Jagermeister, Newcastle Brown Ale and Mickey’s Malt Liquor. If that’s not enough to prove an intervention is called for, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Crown Royal” is sure to do so. Scheduled to release sometime next spring, the sneakers, constructed mainly of suede with leather detailing on the Swoosh and heel tab, incorporate a purple and gold colorway that’s inspired by the signature colors of the Canadian whiskey company. Early speculation puts the sneakers in store by April 2012. We’ll keep you posted on further details between now and then.

Nike SB Blazer “Low End Theory”

A Tribe Called Quest is considered to be one of the greatest hip hop groups of the 90′s. The group, composed of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, released 5 studio albums between 1990 and 1998. Every one was a banger and every hip hop head has their favorite. In my opinion, “Beats, Rhymes and Life” is the best Tribe Called Quest album. Nike SB on the other hands feels “Low End Theory” , the group’s 2nd album, is the best and shows it with this special SB Blazer.

The skate-ready Blazer follows a color palette inspired by the album artwork for “Low End Theory“. Black suede fills the base of the upper, joined by tonal yet glossy graphics. Accents come in the form of red, which appears on the Swoosh and liner, and Green, which highlights the laces and Nike embroidery along the heel tag. If you’re an old Tribe Called Quest fan or just a fan of cool sneakers, watch for these to hit a Nike SB retailer near you come September.

For the record, this isn’t the first time A Tribe Called Quest has been honored in the footwear industry. If you recall, Jordan Brand released an Air Jordan 1 Hi Strap and an Air Jordan PHLY Legends Hi inspired by the album artwork for “Midnight Marauders“ back in 2009.

Nike SB Dunk High “Jagermeister”

From beer to hard liquor.

Having previously released sneakers inspired by Heineken and New Castle, Nike SB moves on to the hard stuff with the SB Dunk High “Jagermeister”. Inspired by the 70-proof German liquor, the sneakers adopt the color scheme of the Jager bottle. Black suede covers majority of the upper, while green appears on the leather toe-box and mesh tongue. Orange accents highlight the Swoosh and tongue tag branding, which leaves white to complete the midsole and round out the inspiration.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Space Jam” – Official Release Date

While consumers overseas have their Space Jam Dunks for a good 2 months now, consumers in the States are still eagerly waiting for their arrival.

Originally scheduled to hit US retailers in May, the release of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Space Jam” was pushed back to July due to what was believed to be shipment delays effected by the crisis in Asia. We now have further confirmation on just when exactly in July you can expect the sneakers to release. Still slated to drop as a limited release quickstrike through select Nike SB retailers, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Space Jam” will officially become available on July 23rd. Which, coincidentally, coincides with Jordan’s number.

Nike SB Blazer “Taylor Gang” Customs

Taylor Gang or die!!

Wiz Khalifa fans will surely be excited to see JBFcustoms latest custom sneaker. After creating a SB Blazer earlier this year honoring Curren$y and his JETLIFE lifestyle, JBFcustoms designs a pair to represent Wiz Khalifa and his Taylor Gang family. Black premium suede constructs the entire base of the upper, complimented with yellow contrast stitching throughout. A special material JBFcustoms made from real ZigZag rolling papers is used to fabricate the Swooshes. The material is also visible on the backing of the paper airplane cutout on the heel. Furthermore, the tongue is tatted up with a black and yellow Taylor Gang logo to make their affiliation with the crew apparent, and a white sole separates your feet from the ground.

Nike SB Dunk High “True Red”

Rather then reissue previous releases, Nike SB recycles old colorways. Lately, Nike’s skateboarding division has been incorporating color schemes from old releases onto different silhouettes to create the same look on a different shoe. For example, the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5 “Cali” that released last month was inspired by the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Cali” that released back in 2008, and the Nike SB Dunk High “True Red” shown here is reminiscent of a Nike SB Dunk Low that released in 2003. The material build is slightly different, with these constructed entirely from suede, but aside from that, the shoes are basically a larger scale of 2003′s SB Dunk Low. Nike SB Blazer “Shadow” Customs

JBF Customs clearly enjoys working with the Nike SB Blazer more than any other model. 9 out of 10 custom sneakers he creates work around the SB Blazer, so when he emailed us photos of his latest project it was no surprise to see the silhouette in play once again.

This newest creation is dubbed the Nike SB Blazer “Shadow”, and it contains a tonal black upper that utilizes suede on the side panels, leather on the mid and heel panels and carbon fiber on the Swoosh, giving it that dark, shadowy look. Purple contrast stitching holds everything together, a quilted inner lining provides tons of comfort and “JBF” cutouts appear on the tongue and heel, backed by a reflective 3M material.

Not quite as exciting as the Nike SB Blazer “Jet Life” customs he presented earlier this year honoring hip-hop artist Curren$y, but stylish the nonetheless. Get a closer look at the sneakers below and stay tuned for further updates on the latest creations by JBF Customs.

Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski “Woodgrain”

Slated to release next month is a limited edition the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski. Coming in its low-cut form, the sneakers, scheduled to release in June 2011 as a quickstrike, feature a brown woodgrain-style upper with tonal leather trim, a suede Swoosh and leather laces. Sitting beneath the shoe is the standard, skate-able, white vulcanized sole. The release will be limited and the shoes will only be available through select Nike SB distributors. According to previous reports, no more than 1,500 pairs were made to release, that hasn’t been confirmed by Nike SB, however.
