Site Will Be Under Maitence Tonight – 8/22
Sneaker Obsession will be under going maintenance at some point later tonight. I am going to try and hold off on taking the site offline till as late as possible, maybe by 11pm EST or so. Hopefully the updates will be quick and painless and things will be back up and running again in no time what so ever. Dont quote me on that just yet though. If things go well you will see Sneaker Obsession with a somewhat updated look which should benefit you, the readers at large. If something goes wrong and things do not go as planned then the site will be back up with no change at all while i continue to work out the bugs. For now carry on with your regular reading.
Sneaker Obsession delay due to sickness
Whats going on guys and girls. Many of you who visit the site daily have probably noticed nothing has been posted since Saturday. I am currently fighting a sickness that has had me laid up in bed since Sunday night. I attended the NHRA Super Nationals at Raceway Park in NJ this past weekend and i have either come down with food poisoning or sun poisoning. I havent really done to much besides pray to the toilet god since i got home Sunday night. This all comes with a killer migraine too. If youve had a migraine then im sure you know my pain right now. I cant even look at the screen for longer then 5mins. Its killing me just to type this but i wanted to let all the daily viewers know that tomorrow i will carry on with the regular posting you are use to. I am about 50% better right now so come tomorrow i should (hopefully) be at 100% and good to go again. Make sure to keep it locked cause i’ll have a lot of new customs coming your way within the next few days.
Update: Fake Custom Sneakers

Not to long ago we talked about how fake custom kicks have popped up online which duplicate the work of Sekure D along with a few other sneaker customizers. Sekure D has found out that duplicates of his customs are being mass produced somewhere in the depths of China and distributed through numerous online sites or auctions. Who knows what other artists are being taken of their designs and having fakes made of their work. Its a shame the fake market has to now even effect many popular sneaker customizers. All the artists along with Sneaker Obsession ask all of you to please report any findings of these fake custom sneakers you may come across online. You can report them to use and we will pass the word along to the artists or you can contact the artist directly if you know who it is. As we told you before, go directly to the source for your customs. If not a Sekure D custom unless it comes from the man Sekure D himself, its not a C2 custom unless youve bought it through C2 Customs. You get the picture here. Not only are you buying a design which has been butchered, you are getting it on a fake sneaker as well. Its like 2 fakes in 1. Go for the real deal.
Atmos English Translated Site

For those not in the know yet, popular Tokyo Japan based store Atmos has launched an English translated site. The store could use a little work on its layout and right now its pretty limited on what is listed on there but in the future this will be a big plus. Now i dont have to try and learn Japanese since now of the translating sites seem to do a good job. A few other of our favorite Japanese based shops are also working on English translated sites as we speak, we will keep you posted on that. For now check out the new English Atmos site.
Friday Night Match Up On Hold
The daily readers on Sneaker Obsession may have noticed that the Friday Night Match Up has been M.I.A. for a few weeks now. This is mainly do to the fact that the writer who was working on this project has vanished. As to where he went or what actually happened we arent really sure but The Friday Night Match Up has not come up in about 3 weeks. I would like to inform you that the segment will continue again on April 4th. I will be bringing you a fresh new writer to carry out this segment and continue bringing you those fresh fits from head to toe every week. If you would like us to match up a fit for a pair of kicks you may have, or a hat, or shirt or whatever, always feel free to send your requests to us. Ladies, this means you too. Just cause a guy is doing the segment doesnt mean we cant put together an outfit for the ladies too. You can contact us here. Once again sorry for the hold up and you can expect everything back to normal next friday April 4th.
Sneakerology 101

Sneakerology 101. Did you ever think it was possible? Carnegie Mellon University which is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has started the first college level course which is being called Sneakerology 101. The class teaches students about the history of the sneaker industry dating back to its original roots over 30 years ago, to what it has grown to be today. The course covers sneakers from every corner of the industry, from basketball sneakers to custom sneakers, down to how sneakers have been an icon in hip hop culture. This class with also go over things such as the book “Whered you get those” by the legendary Bobbito Garcia and will also use various internet sneaker sites as reference. Dont just think this is some class to go and BS about sneakers without any major work, there are projects the students must complete such as designing a sneaker using the knowledge they acquired within the class. If this idea will spark ideas for other colleges around the country we dont know, but we can only hope that others will look at this course and acknowledge the fact that the sneaker industry is major today, and that many future artists and designers sitting in class are very interested in designing sneakers for major companies or a company they may develop themselves down the road. Give your students the chance to learn and work towards something they want to pursue in life, bring Sneakerology 101 to your university and give your future designers a chance to learn what the industry is all about. Those who may live around the PA area and are interested in taking Sneakerology 101 you can contact Carnegie Mellon University to sign up for the next session which is set for Spring 2009.
