Nike May Cut 1,400 Jobs

It was only a matter of time before the troubled economy started effecting the footwear companies, in such a way where layoffs have to be made. Earlier today Nike reported that they may cut up to 1,400 jobs, or 4% of its work force to reduce costs as it restructures its business. At the moment Nike currently employees 35,000 people around the world.
At this time Nike has not committed to an exact number of how many people will be cut out of a job. The company still has a lot to review and go over before they set it in stone what employees will lose a job and where exactly the cuts will be made. Via: USA Today
LiL Penny Visits NYC

The little dude is back!!! After a long hiatus Lil Penny, the alter ego of Anfernee Penny Hardaway, was spotted over the weekend taking in the sights in NYC. During his visit Lil Penny had his hands full, making an appearance at Nike Sportswear on 21 Mercer Street to design a pair of Nike Air Force Ones and stopping by House of Hoops in Harlem to holla at the HoH team and check out the digs. While in town Lil Penny even managed to make his way over to Madison Square Garden to catch a little bit of a NY Knicks game.
Do you think Nike will bring back the Lil Penny commercials for the upcoming Nike Air Penny 1/2 Cent?
Thousands Of Shoes Appear On Miami Expressway

A few days ago on January 2nd thousands of shoes appeared on the morning Palmetto Expressway disrupting traffic for hours. Included were work boots, running shoes, womens heels, tennis shoes and maybe even a pair of Air Force Ones or Nike Dunks. Nobody is quite sure where the shoes came from but it took a crew several hours to sweep up all the shoes and push them to the side of the Expressway. They were all then loaded into dump trucks and taken out to the an empty field in northern Miami-Dade County where non-profit organizations such as Soles4Souls are taking the shoes and distributing them to the poor. This is defiantly a pretty crazy news story, to just come across thousands of shoes in the road and have no idea where they came from. I wonder if anybody stopped and picked up any heat before the cops got there.

We’re back after a brief delay

Im sure a lot of you have noticed since Thursday of last week Sneaker Obsession was offline. The site was not accessible and a message displaying the site as disabled was shown. We were experiencing difficulties with our server and have since “set up shop” with a new server. It took quite awhile to get the box setup and to transfer all the files and change DNS nameserver info and all that mumbo jumbo. Fear not though since we are back in action after that brief delay. After working out some more of the minor bugs on this new server we will carry on with your regular daily updates. My appologizes for the misinterruption.

Sneaker Obsession V2
Well im sure all the daily readers have noticed the new changes right off the bat. Sneaker Obsession has been updated with a whole new look. This is a layout i have been testing on another (test) site of mine. Maybe youve seen the style on the other site, maybe you havent, but either way it has found its home at Sneaker Obsession. Along with the new layout i have also made a few other changes.
-For one, the long list of categories have been removed and updated with a drop down list which you can find over to the right hand side. You can access a single category by selecting the category link within the post itself or you can select a category from the drop down menu.
-Image sizes within the posts have been scaled down a little bit to make load speeds easier on our readers with a slower connection speed. It has been a PIDA for users with a slower connection to load pages which may contain up to 10 or more good size images.
-On the right hand side you will also find sections for the newest Dunks that have been posted, newest Air Jordan posted and newest custom sneakers posted. Since these are by far the most popular sneakers we have highlighted the most recents posts for those categories within the sidebar. Whenever a new post is added to the genre the links will be updated automatically.
There will be more small changes coming along the way, such as graphics being updated and this and that so bare with us as we finish the complete update. Along will all of this i will also be providing you with more sneaker news as requested by many readers, instead of just the usual custom sneakers being posted. The site has been online for just over a year now and i thank all you dedicated readers for sticking with the site through thick and thin. We will always stive to better your viewing pleasure. Take care readers.
