DJ AM Found Dead

We would like to send out our condolences to the family and friends of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein). Early this evening at around 5:30pm DJ AM was found dead in his Lafayette Street apartment in New York City. After not being heard from for a few days and not answering calls or knocks at his door a friend of DJ AM called the police who broke down the door at his apartment and found DJ AM dead. At this time nothing has been confirmed by the police or by the corners office but reports have hit the web that drug paraphernalia was found on the scene. This does not mean that DJ AM’s body was anywhere near the drug paraphernalia when the cops found him, so lets just keep that in mind and hope that we can rule out a drug overdose here.

DJ AM, the celebrity DJ who was heavy into the sneaker industry will defiantly be missed by us here at Sneaker Obsession and by fans and sneakerheads all over the world. DJ AM had a serious sneaker collection and a passion for Air Jordans and Nike Dunks. He was even in the works on designing his own signature Nike Dunks. Its a shame how things turn out sometimes, escapes what could of been a deadly plane crash to turn up like this a few months later.

To the friends of DJ AM and his family, our prayers go out to you during these hard and tragic times. Travis Barker, a dear and close friend to DJ AM, keep your head up bro. Nike, lets make those DJ AM Nike Dunks happen in honor of Adam, one of the biggest Nike Dunk fanatics to walk the surface.

DC x Rob Dyrdek Collection

DC is proud to announce the release of the Dyrdek Collection from pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek. After 14 years with DC, Dyrdek’s collection is a first for both himself and the brand, as its premiere athlete designed collection. The Dyrdek Collection includes footwear, apparel and accessories, all which feature signature branding and a custom print. The collection will launch to retail stores beginning October 1, 2009.

The collection was designed to fit perfectly in Dyrdek’s life, with custom fit denim for skateboarding, lightweight zip fleece, T-shirts, hats, wallets, a leather jacket and a new footwear model. A “water” pattern, representing the collection’s theme of “Fantasies Run Deep” is used across the collection as the lead print on t –shirts, fleece, and hats, as well as on interior linings of jackets, accessories, and footwear.

“After nearly 15 years with DC, I am excited to launch my first full collection of footwear, apparel and accessories,” said Dyrdek.  “I wanted the Collection to reflect my life, so I incorporated everything from pieces for skateboarding and everyday wear to aspects of my history, like a completely updated model of my first ever shoe with DC.”

Dyrdek’s latest shoe, the RD1 Mid, sits at the center of the collection and draws design cues from Dyrdek’s first ever shoe with the brand. Dyrdek joined DC Shoes in 1995 and set out to design the first-ever skateboard shoe with an athletic shoe’s performance features and look. The result, the Dyrdek1, was the first skateboard shoe to feature protective nylon lace loops. Dyrdek’s signature shoe was met with unprecedented approval by the skateboarding community and sold out in record time.

Fifteen shoes later, the updated RD1 Mid model now comes in two colorways as a mid top with perforated leather and custom lining, but features the same paneling and lace loops from the Dyrdek 1 that revolutionized skateboarding footwear. The code “RD0915AW” is branded into the heel of the shoe, reflecting the original branding on the tongue of Dyrdek’s first shoe,“RD9501AW”, which combined his initials (RD) with the year (‘95), shoe model number (01) and his board sponsor (Alien Workshop).

Eddie Cruz (UNDFTD) Undergoes Emergency Surgery

eddie-cruz

Eddie Cruz, the man behind UNDFTD, one of the nations most well known retailers, was hospitalized yesterday to undergo emergency surgery to try and remove a brain tumor.

Earlier this month on August 1st Eddie had admitted himself to the hospital for having server pain in his left leg. Eddie had told us it was as if his leg had a seizure which caused him extreme pain all while sweating uncontrollably. Shortly after arriving at the hospital Eddie was restrained to a wheelchair due to the pain getting worse. The doctors doped him up on some pain killers and started to run some tests. It was discovered that same day, August 1st, that there was something (a tumor) on the side of Eddie’s brain. At that point doctors began to do even more tests. They also administered more pain medication to Eddie for his leg and some medication to reduce the swelling of the tumor which is believed to have been the cause of his leg seizure.

After a little more then two weeks after noticing the tumor on the side of Eddie’s brain he has been rushed in for emergency surgery to tumor. We are not quite sure if this emergency surgery is according to their procedure and what they actually had planned from the get-go or if Eddie’s health had declined causing the doctors to jump into surgery ASAP.

We here at Sneaker Obsession wish Eddie Cruz, his family and the UNDFTD family the best of luck during these hard times. We and thousands of others are pushing for you Eddie, heres to a fast recovery.
