LeBron James Drops Out Of 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest

LeBron James may have some people getting a little salty at him for this one. After talking up a big game last year about how he would participate in the 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest LeBron James has now backed out of the event less then a month before hand, forcing the NBA to fill his slot. No real reason has been announced as to why LeBron will not be participating this year but needless to say there’s sure to be a lot of disappointed fans. We’ve been dying to see LeBron in the Slam Dunk Contest and he sort of ensured us all last year that he’d enter the event for 2010, and the NBA even had him listed as a participant, but now that has all changed. Forcing to fill LeBron’s spot the NBA will hold a dunk-off between Eric Gordon of the Clippers and DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors during halftime of the NBA Rookie Game. Whoever wins the dunk-off will join Nate Robinson, Gerald Wallace and Shannon Brown in the 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Michael Jordan Speaks on LeBron’s #23 Retirement

Photo via: TSG
As you may have heard LeBron James has been mentioning that he plans to retire his #23 next year in honor of Michael Jordan. LeBron personally feels that Jordan’s number should of been retired due to the fact he believes MJ is the greatest athlete the NBA has ever seen. Since the NBA didn’t retire Jordan’s number, even after he was inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year, LeBron has been saying he’s going to retire his own number 23 and do something the NBA should of done from the get go. If he sticks to his guns LeBron will take the court next year in wearing #6, the number he wore during the 2008 Olympics.
The other day on All-Access MJ gave Ahmad Rashad a call to wish him a happy birthday and during their brief conversation Ahmad asked Jordan what his opinion was about LeBron James saying he is going to retire his number in Michael honor.
