Nike SB April 2010 Early Releases

We still got about a week and a half left in March but as usual some of next month’s Nike SB releases are already starting to arrive at retailers overseas, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come in the weeks to follow.
Available now at Flatspot are four of the upcoming Nike SB April 2010 Releases. From top to bottom, left to right, you have a two SB Blazers, a SB Dunk Low and an SB Classic.
The first of the SB Blazer’s features a Matte Silver/Midnight Navy color scheme with suede throughout the base of the upper and snakeskin leather on the Swoosh and heel tab. The second of the Blazer’s comes in Black/Light Graphite and ditches the snakeskin leather for a solid suede upper. The SB Dunk Low in Obsidian/Team Red also sports buttery smooth suede on the upper, as does the SB Classic in Army Green which features perforated detailing and a leather Swoosh.
This is only a portion of the Nike SB April 2010 Releases, we’ll keep you posted on the rest of the collection when further details and images become available. For a closer look at each of these four click here.
Nike SB “Larry Perkins” Release Date Moved Back

Premier has just gotten the word from Nike SB that the Nike SB Dunk “Larry Perkins” has been moved back to a later date. We are well aware some distributors are already selling the sneakers, and have been for about a week or so, but according to what Nike SB wants retailers who will be stocking the sneakers will not be releasing them until this coming Saturday, March 20th.
If you recall we’ve caught quite a few previews of these sneakers over the months. At the time we were all calling them the Chirping Bird SB Dunks due to a mechanism inside the tongue which made the sound of a bird when you squeezed it. However, now that the release is nearing further details about the design and theme have surfaced and we’re now learning the whole chirping bird idea has been squashed.
According to AtlantaGotSole, “Larry Perkins is a fictitious character from about 5 years ago. This character was a self proclaimed “Best and most under rated skateboarder alive” he did a bunch of prank calls and fake skate interviews for Big Brother (owned at the time by Larry Flint publications).” AtlantaGotSole is also reporting that the chirping bird noise has been replaced with a ringing telephone sound effect – a reference to the prank calls made by Larry to various skate companies and magazines.
If you’re planning on trying to get yourself a pair of these hit up your local Nike SB retailer to see if they’ll be available in your area come this Saturday. This is a Quickstrike for the month of March, so not every Nike SB distributor will be getting them.
Reebok x Basquiat Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

Before his untimely death of a herion overdose on August 22th 1988, the young and very talented Jean-Michel Basquiat quickly climbed the ladder to fame before his passing at the age of 27. Jean-Michel, known around the world simply as Basquiat, started his journey as a street artist in Brooklyn and eventually evolved into a world renowned artist who’s collaborated with Andy Warhol and dated people such as Madonna. Since his death in the last 80’s his work has appeared in a number of art museums throughout the nation, a few movies and books about him been produced and published, and some of his pieces have even been featured on a line of footwear thanks to Reebok and their Basquiat Collection.
This year for Spring/Summer 2010 the Reebok Basquiat Collection continues with three new releases paying tribute to Basquiat’s artwork. The three sneakers, which include a Pump Omni Lite, BB4600 Hi and Pump Aerobic Trainer Mid, feature a white base, each with different fabrics throughout the upper, gum outsoles and detailing along the heel and tongue representing the artwork of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat. Along with the sneakers there’s also a small line of t-shirts which further carry the Basquiat artwork.
No official release details are available at this time but thanks to Provider we do have some preview images of the kicks and the tees so make sure you click here to check em out and stay tuned for further details.
Nike Dunk Hi – Denim/Gingham

From Low’s to Mid’s to Highs, to SB’s and non-SB’s, we just can’t get enough of our Dunks. Being fans of fine denim as well, it goes without saying we’re defiantly feeling this latest Dunk Hi which just arrived at Finish Line.
It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen a Denim Nike Dunk so when these popped up we felt they defiantly deserved a little attention. Denim fabric’s the entire toe area, lace panels and heel/wing panel while a blue and white gingham-like checker pattern fights for attention on the mid-panel and around the ankle. The Nike Swoosh and nylon tongue are both finished off in white, as is the mid-sole which rests above a black outsole.
If you’re interested grab yourself a pair now through Finish Line for $82.
Puma Roader Hi – Black/Red/White & White/Black

Legal disputes and courtroom battles are all part of today’s corporate world, and every footwear company out there has been served legal papers for some reason or another . Take for example Puma who was forced to change the name of their Roadster Hi model, taking out the “st” and calling it the Roader Hi instead. Luckily a name is just that, nothing but a name, so as long as you’ve got a contender what you decide to call em has little to no effect, they’ll sell regardless.
If you haven’t been put on to the Roadster Roader Hi now’s the time as Puma is reissuing the model in a lineup of new colorways. Last week we showed you a White/Lime Green colorway and today we’ve got two more for you, one in Black/Red/White and the other in White/Black. The Black version sports a Black leather upper with perforated leather on the toe and tongue. To brighten up the sneakers Puma added in plenty of Red accents and glued up a White sole unit to offset the base. The White version has a little bit more perforated leather as it’s applied not just to the toe and tongue but also to the lace panels. Black accent’s appear on the foamstripe and on the heel.
Both of these and the White/Lime Green Puma Roader Hi we showed you last week as all available at Finishline for $65.
Nike SB Dunk Low “Wallenberg”

For the past few weeks rumors have been floating around that the Nike SB Dunk’s displayed above were designed to honor St. Patty’s Day given their green finish, a color usually associated with the Irish holiday. In fact though those rumors have been nothing but true.
Today we’ve learned that the Green Hemp SB Dunks are actually designed by Bob Kronbauer, an art director from Vancouver, Canada and have nothing to do with St. Patrick’s Day what so ever. They’re actually inspired by the Wallenberg Palm Tree, a small tree at the foot of the 2nd step of the Big 4 at Raoul Wallenberg Alternative School in San Francisco. The Wallenberg Palm Tree has played a supporting role in skateboarding since 1990 and has appeared in a number of skateboarding videos ever since.
Below is a statement from Bob Kronbauer which he posted on Mumble giving us all the details we need to know about the sneakers and the famous tree.
The Palm Tree at the foot of the 2nd step of the Big 4 at Raoul Wallenberg Alternative School in San Francisco has played a supporting role in skateboarding since 1990. My Nike SB Dunk Low colorway is inspired by this little tree’s “Twenty Year Anniversary” in 2010/2011. Throughout the mid 90’s the tree made in appearance in most of the best skate videos of the era. Dudes were getting tech using the bottom stair as a low ledge and the second stair as a high ledge. The tree grew. In the early 2000’s people started hucking themselves down the 4, pulling tricks that would have been impressive down the first stair ten years earlier. Over the decade the tree has grown larger, like the skating going on around it. The colorway draws a palette from the palm tree itself while utilizing hemp for the Swoosh. The white midsole represents the step and has a visible “waxed ledge” around the top of it, just like that step at Wallenberg. Lastly, the insoles each contain a pixelated image of the palm tree itself, giving a nod to all of the times it has appeared in skate videos over the years.
Watch for the sneakers to release this month as a Nike SB March 2010 Quickstrike and click here to check out some additional photos.
