Video: Sneaker Bistro x DC Life Versatile

Jonas from Sneaker Bistro gives us a look at a collaboration the shop has been working on with the DC Life division of DC Shoes. Sneaker Bistro and DC Life got down on a collaboration involving the Versatile which they laced up in premium leather using neutral colors for the color scheme. Since the designs on insoles have been getting pretty popular and everybody is looking to do something different Jonas and the crew at Sneaker Bistro had DC Life include a pair of insoles which feature a recipe for Shrimp Oregano. So not only do the sneakers look dope but they can teach you how to cook a good meal for you and your lady. I have to say, the insoles carry one of the most unique ideas in my opinion. Also included is three different pairs of laces allowing you to swap them out based on your taste.

DC Shoes x Darren Brass Spring 2009 Collection

Tattoo artist Darren Brass from Miami Ink joins DC Shoes with seven unique collaborations for its Spring 2009 collection. The artist, skateboarder and self-proclaimed sneakerhead developed two mens and two womens shoes, two hoodies and a New Era cap incorporating his tattoo and graffiti inspired art for the DC Collection.

Growing up outside of New York, Brass spent his time with skateboarding and graffiti throughout the city streets. He parlayed these early influences directly in to his DC project. For the DB Pure SE, Brass accented the black and grey shoes with bright graffiti art of a subway car. Brass then played with the shoes’ leather texture to mirror the cracked concrete of New York’s city streets where he spent his youth. A grey DC hoodie compliments the shoe, sharing the cracked concrete pattern from the shoe as an all over print. A kitted New Era cap features Brass’ subway car art paneled in a DC logo. Brass created his second shoe, the DB Character, straight from his days bombing the city walls. The shoes side panels have been hit with a DC logo piece over his illustration of a grimy city street. Offered in black and white, his second shoe is a call out to the early days of Brass’ graffiti career.

To create his two womens DC shoes, Brass mixed his art with dynamic material and colors. His “Grapes of Wrath” shoe mixes his custom grape illustrations with cork overlays and purple suede paneling and sole on DC’s popular mid top Manteca model. For his second womens shoe, Brass incorporated a woven basket paneling with a textured “peach fuzz” suede and green laces and sole. Paneled with his peach tree illustrations, the shoe has been dubbed the “Peach Basket”. An accompanying hoodie shares the theme, with an allover fruit print.

The DC Shoes x Darren Brass Spring 2009 Collection is available at select DC retailers now and online at the DC Shoes Webstore. Hit the jump for a closer look at all the goodies.

DC Shoes x Lemar & Dauley Admiral

The DC Shoes ‘Double Label Project’ continues with their newest collaboration being with streetwear company Lemar & Dauley. DC gave the Lemar & Dauley design team full creative control over the Admiral model. The muse for the Lemar and Dauley Admiral was the idea of regatta sail boats. Fabrics and materials used on the sails originally inspired, but in the process of creating the shoe other elements began to reshape the vision to further address the lifestyle behind the idea. The shoe captures a metropolitan individual engaging in a beach bum mentality.

Two colorways were created as a reflection of sand and concrete. The patterns on the side panels represent the art often depicted on regatta wind sails.  The “Lemar and Dauley” name was used to illustrate the names often detailed on the side of boats. The metal plate embossed with Braille and the reflective tape was used to illustrate touch and sight, both of which are necessary human senses when in the water. In the final attempt to brand the shoe, DC Shoes and Lemar and Dauley used the trademark houndstooth pattern associated with Lemar and Dauley.

Watch for the DC Shoes x Lemar & Dauley Admiral to hit DC Life retailers on Febuary 1st for a price of $150.
