In the custom sneaker industry you have a few different groups. You have the customizers who do reconstructions, taking an old beat up sneaker and making it look as if it’s fresh out the box with new colors and new material. Then you have your artists, the one’s who you call on when you’re looking for portraits, patterns or some sick design work. Rounding out the pack are the innovators, the ones who push the envelope and set standards with some of the most unique sneakers we’ve seen in recent years. Sneakers which push the envelope and set standards.

Sneaker customizer Intrxn happens to fall into all three groups. From simple reconstructions to patterns and designs, Intrxn can do it all. He’s even gone as far as creating an entirely new sneaker, the Genesis by Intrxn, which were told is only the beginning of what’s to come. With the amount of talent and skill Intrxn has it should come as no surprise that he’s been featured on Sneaker Obsession more then a dozen times and continues to be one of the most covered customizers.

We’re about to chalk another one up for Intrxn too as we have just been provided with some exclusive images of a very special Air Jordan 12 he recently wrapped up. The project was to be kept secretive at the request of the customer who commissioned Intrxn to do the job, but thankfully being the loyal supporters we are, we managed to squeeze some pictures and info outta Intrxn to share with you.

In the words of Intrxn:

Elvis T. from Chicago contracted me to work on a very special Jordan. The rule was that I was to do something I have never done before. The Jordan 12 release date correlates to Jay-Z’s 1997 distribution deal with Def Jam Records. Following the death of Notorious B.I.G. he worked with P. Diddy to produce “In My Lifetime” and the record “Reasonable Doubt.” If you get a chance to catch these shoes in person you can notice the detail that acknowledges inspiration from Elvis himself, Jay-Z, Biggie, and Alexander McQueen. The conceptual approach includes undertones regarding these men’s work ethic and the theme, “Man or Machine.” As far as colorway, the shoe was created to match Elvis’ shirt and vest. He divulged that his fashion sense is all about making statements in a clean and classy manner. If I had one word to describe the work I did for him it would be “sculpture.” Everyone who is attending the Jay-Z concert on Thursday March 18th keep an eye out for Elvis in the double stretch black Hummer!

Nike Court Tradition “Street” Customs

It’s been about a week or so since we featured a pair of customs, so I think it’s about time we get into it without further delay and take a look at what’s new out there. After browsing around and seeing what customizers recently finished up some sneakers I came across the latest project from Sharp020, a pair of Nike Court Traditions which he was given by a customer to do a reconstruction on.

Sharp020 reveals to us that he had the sneakers in his possession for well over a year but was never really able to work on it due to the fact the upper was originally constructed from hemp, a material which wasn’t accepting his method to well to carry out the “street” theme. After several failed attempts to get the upper off the sole unit Sharp020 did what any insane customizer would do. He literally cut the whole thing clear off the sole and got the project moving. Leather was then laid down throughout the upper paneling in which Sharp020 applied a mind cement pattern on which you would swear has some sort of texture to it due to the depth of it. In fact though there’s nothing there, it’s smooth to the touch and that’s what we love. It plays tricks on your mind and eyes. The upper was then stitched back together with Yellow contrast stitching with the shape of the Nike Swoosh being painted in Yellow to resemble the lines on a street. Besides the cement pattern on the upper I’m always loving the dirty old sole which is fitting with a grungy street.

Sharp020 has defiantly produced a killer custom here and has followed through with the “street” theme perfectly. Make sure you click here to peep the photos cause you really gotta see the detail put into these.

Nike Blazer “Copper Penny” Customs

The Copper Foamposites are so much a fan favorite that they’ve inspired numerous brands and individual artists to capitalize off the sneakers and feed off the energy. We’ve come across quite a few t-shirts honoring the shoes, some of which we’ve showed you over the past couple of days and now we’ve been provided with some images of a custom Nike Blazer inspired by the Copper Foams.

JBF Customs, the brains behind the adidas Superstar “Refresh STR” and the Nike SB Blazer “Denier Quilted” just hit us up with some shots of what he calls the Copper Penny Blazers. Making use of one of Nike’s latest Blazer’s JBF Customs designed the shoes using a Copper chroma material throughout the upper with Black suede on the toe, lace panels, tongue and heel tab. Black leather was then stitched up to the Nike Swoosh and heel spine, and another piece of Copper chroma was added to the tongue tag. The chroma material is by far one of the crazies materials we’ve seen as it gives the sneakers an entirely different look depending on the angle of light hitting them, making them a pretty tough subject to photograph for thankfully JBF Customs did what he could to give us a look at the shoes at various angles since pictures speak louder then words.

Nike Dunk Low “Incredible Hulk” Customs

Back in June 2009 we featured the Nike Dunk “Planet Of The Apes” designed by sneaker customizer Chrisco. Little did we know at the time but those were just the kicker to what is known as the Marvel Mash-Up, a collection of custom sneakers inspired by a variety of Marvel Comics. After debuting the first pair we are now pleased to present you Vol. 2 of the Marvel Mash-Up by Chrisco.

For volume 2 Chrisco went with a Nike Dunk Low carrying a theme inspired by none other then Dr. Bruce Banner, also known as the Incredible Hulk. As the story goes Bruce Banner was accidentally exposed to a test detonation of a gamma bomb he invented which has caused him at times, usually when he gets mad, to involuntarily transform into the green, raging giant known as the Hulk. For his Hulk inspired Dunks Chrisco started off with a pair of White on White Low’s and painted the tongue, toe box, mid-panel and ankle panel all Green to match the Hulk’s body color. Purple denim with rugged edges was then fastened around the frontal, heel, and on the lace panels to present the Hulk’s ripped purple pants from the Marvel Comic series. Black felt was then stitched up on the Nike Swoosh and on the heel tab which includes “HULK” in Green embroidery, and a Marvel Comics logo was then worked onto a pair of tongue tags for the sneakers. The upper itself is no doubt a well executed design but what really helps wraps up these customs for me is the sole swap Chrisco did taking the sole unit from a pair of Earthquake Nike Dunks and incorporating it onto the Dunk Low to bring forth the cracked rock/cement pattern that the Incredible Hulk is usually associated with.

Nike Air Max LeBron VII “Craps” Customs

When we showed you the Nike Air Max LeBron VII “6ucci” created by 1OF Customs the comments instantly started following in on Facebook and Twitter about how the Gucci colorway used throughout the sneakers was nicer then any LeBron 7 to release thus far. A bold comment, but one that may be hard for some to argue given the popularity of Gucci inspired colorways. Since you guys were so into those we’re gonna follow up real quick with another Air Max LeBron VII Custom, once again designed by 1OF Customs.

Back in September 2009 LeBron James appeared on BET to premier the music video to Drake’s, Kanye West’s, Lil Wayne’s and Eminem’s single “Forever” which is off of his More Than A Game soundtrack. We’re sure you’ve seen the video and are more then familiar with the song (Eminem kills it). In the beginning of the video it was revealed to the world that LeBron James is indeed a gambler and likes to play the tables, as most NBA athletes do. The video started out with the beat fading in to a shot of LeBron on a laptop playing a round of poker on PokerStars.com. And yes, he really does play both online and in the casino’s.

Why did I just go into all that? Cause for this pair of custom Air Max LeBron VII’s 1OF Customs designed them after one of the games of luck you’d find in any casino, the game of Craps. Bringing out the Craps theme 1OF Customs fabricated the inserts of the Air Max LeBron VII with green felt and added in graphics of gold numbers, betting areas and white dice to resemble what you’d find walking up to a Craps table. Other then that, which is enough in it’s own sense, 1OF Customs constructed the Nike Swoosh of some sort of cracked leather.

While they’ve haven’t been given to him just yet the sneakers were designed back in December to celebrate Lebron’s 25th birthday and 1OF Customs ensures us they’ll be in LeBron’s possession one day. Nike Air Max LeBron VII “6ucci” Customs

During a game against the Miami Heat back in November 2009, Lebron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers saw his idol Michael Jordan sitting in the stands and made a decision right then and there. If the NBA wasn’t going to retire Jordan’s number he was going to do whatever he could to start a movement getting those wearing the number 23 to give it up in honor of his Airness. Lebron even vowed to lead the charge by dropping his #23 next season for the #6, his Olympic number.

In light of this news 1OF Customs took the opportunity to customize an Air Max Lebron VII with representation of the #6 Lebron plans to wear. Dubbed “6ucci” 1OF Customs gave the sneakers a Gucci-esque color scheme of Green/Red/Black and incorporated a pattern of black 6’s throughout the diamond pattern created by the Flywire upper. Simply done buy yet very effective. With or without the 6’s the Lebron VII doesn’t look half bad in a Gucci colorway.

Nike Dunk High “Die, Die, My Darling” Customs

When it comes to custom sneakers the team over at Royalefam is defiantly on top of their game. Not only does the brand put together some of the wildest customs but they do so in quantities, making more then just 1 pair and allowing multiple consumers with deep pockets the chance to get their hands on a pair.

Doing a little something for Valentines Day the crew at Royalefam put together the “Die, Die, My Darling” Nike Dunk which to say the least isn’t your usual Valentines Day release. According to Royalefam “Die, Die, My Darling is a Bloody Valentine love story featuring the legendary pin-up girl of the Memphis Belle B-17F flying fortress warplane, Sawtooth nose art, red rival camo, bullet hole print and Valentine blood rose.” The Valentine blood rose graphic is evident on the heel of the left sneaker with the words Dead End Girl printed in white just below it. The Memphis Belle B-17 flying fortress pin-up girl is seen used on the wing of the right sneaker laying in a pool of blood with a bullet hole graphic giving you story that this poor girl has been murdered in cold blood. Not the Valentines Day present she was expecting I would imagine.

Defiantly an interesting pair of sneakers. Not something I think I would wear, but as a collectors piece these are pretty dope and you can’t knock the detailed artwork Royalefam put into these and each pair produced. Keep in mind that this design was replicated on a few sneakers. It’s hard enough to do it on one, nevermind a multitude of em.

A total of 16 pairs of the Nike Dunk High “Die, Die, My Darling” Customs have been produced, with each pair individually numbered and costing $650. Nike Dynasty Hi “Ele’Mint” Customs

The Fresh&Fly Customs crew just hit me up with some images of a brand new pair of custom kicks one of the members recently finished up. From Desp1 of Fresh&Fly Customs comes this Nike Dynasty Hi dubbed “Ele’Mint”. Starting with a pair of Quickstrike Dynasty Hi’s Desp1 went about giving the sneakers a two-tone Grey base with an elephant print included on the lace and toe panels, and heel strip. He then
added in some black on the toe cap and heel panel. Jumping right out at ya are nice hits of Mint on the Swoosh and quarter heel. The detailing used within the elephant is crazy. I gotta give my respect to Desp1 for that. A lot of attention to detail is shown there, and it’s defiantly made up for a pair of custom sneakers which I personally feel could pass for an official Nike release. Well done Desp1.

Nike Blazer “Walking on Water” Customs

Back in November 2009 we gave you a look at the Nike Dunk Low “Walking On Water”, a pair of custom sneakers designed by Diversitile. Many of you had great things to say about the sneakers, as did I which is why the again appeared in our Top 20 Custom Sneakers of 2009.

With all the great feedback they’ve received on the sneakers Diversitile decided to take the Walking on Water theme to another level with version 2.0 utilizing a pair of Nike Blazers as the base. The Wii Nike Blazers i believe. The shoes feature the same design scheme as the Dunks with the water pattern applied to the sole unit and the rough current seen splashing up onto the base of the upper. The orange trim outlining the Nike Swoosh I believe is part of the original shoe, the teal stitching throughout though was added in by Diversitile to further accent the upper.

The sneakers were produced in a size 9.5 and are still available for purchase so if your interested in em hit up Diversitile now to speak prices and shipping. We can’t guarantee it at this time but a little birdie told us that there may be a run of about 6-10 of these made in the future in an assortment of sizes. Nike Dunk High “Graffiti Explosion” Customs

Diversitile, the company responsible for lacing people up with some of the freshest custom sneakers presents us with a look at their latest project they recently finished. Back in December Diversitile was commissioned by an unnamed company in New York to customize some of their products and a pair of Dunks to be displayed at a convention. The company provided some DJ headphones and an iPhone case and Diversitile fronted the Nike Dunk Highs dubbed “Graffiti Explosion” which he completely redesigned with some eye popping designs. The frontal, lace panels and heel panel all consist of attentive graffiti graphics with a multi-colored camo like pattern applied to the toe-box and mid-section. The same designs were then added to both the headphones and iPhone case to make for a nice little collection. I can’t say I would personally ever rock these but as a collector piece these are defiantly on point. Diversitile is always killin up with the attentive designs.
