Asics Fall/Winter 2012 Preview

Last week, hundreds of companies in the streetwear and action sports industries descended upon the Long Beach Convention Center to showcase their new product releases at the Agenda Tradeshow. All the major footwear companies were on hand for the event including Asics, who brought out a few goodies from its Fall/Winter 2012 Collection to show off. Here we see two colorways of the ever-popular Gel Lyte III and single colorways of the Gel Saga and GT II which were on display in the Asics booth. It’s too early to put a release date on any of them yet, so stay tuned for further details.

Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Saga II “Mazarine Blue”

If you weren’t quick enough to get your hands on Ronnie Fieg’s newest Asics collaboration, the Gel Sage II “Mazarine Blue”, when it released online earlier this week, prepare to be more bitter then you already are. New photos of the sneakers have surfaced, showing just how dope they really are when you get an up-close look at them. Ronnie always does an amazing job with his Asics collabo’s and this new Gel Saga II defiantly doesn’t disappoint. If you’re in the NY area, you’ll have a second chance to grab a pair when a limited quantity goes on sale at Ronnie’s shop, KITH NYC, in both the Manhattan and Brooklyn locations on December 29th, 2011. Those of you outside the NY area can find a few pairs for sale on eBay.

Patta x Asics Gel Saga

The newest issue of Sneaker Freaker reveals in full scope the Asics Gel Saga II designed by Amsterdam-retailer Patta. If you recall, teaser images of the sneakers were floating around the web previously, giving us only a small glimpse of what to expect. With a release approaching in the near future, Sneaker Freaker was given the green light to showcase the sneakers in its latest publication. Along with a spread inside the magazine, the Patta x Asics Gel Saga appears as the cover shot. As you can see in the photo below, the sneakers feature a black upper built from a mixture of rubberized leather, perforated leather and suede, in addition to a small amount of horse hair. Grey accents the signature Asics arches, green highlights the Gel Sage embroidery on the quarter panel, and red coats the tongue, heel tag and eyelets. White x’s on the laces add to the uniqueness of the shoe while the color compliments the lining and midsole. Solebox x Asics – Preview

It looks like Solebox has teamed up with Asics in preparation for its 10th anniversary next year. The German-retailer, who recently joined Saucony on a pack of Shadow 5000′s dubbed “Three Brothers”, released a teaser pic a couple hours ago showcasing the heal of two different Asics silhouettes, one of which displays the boutique’s name. Judging by the photo, one pair appears to be a Gel Lyte III while the other looks to be a Gel Saga II. Both carrying a matching black, blue and silver color scheme. Video: Asics Gel Saga II “From OG to Retro”

This coming weekend will see the revival of two original colorways of the Asics Gel Saga II. Designed by one of the most revered footwear designers at Asics, Toshikazu Kayano, the Gel Saga II was first introduced in the early 90′s. To celebrate the re-release of the OG colorways, German-retailer Afew put together a video showing the differences between the original and retro model’s. Both pairs are slated to hit select Asics retailers Saturday, August 27th, in extremely limited numbers. Afew in Germany will only be getting 6 pairs of each colorway.

Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Saga – Teaser

When the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Mint Leaf” was released last month, it was made clear at the time that would be the last Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaboration releasing through DavidZ. Many of us took that to mean that Ronnie would no longer be working alongside Asics and that the “Mint Leaf” was the last of an unforgettable era of Asics collaborations. Either that’s not that case or Ronnie is just teasing us with a look at one of his unreleased samples.

A few days ago, Ronnie Fieg posted this image of an Asics Gel Saga on his Twitter feed, along with the words “I’m sorry”. Could he be apologizing for teasing us with a look at what’s to come? One can only speculate at this time. From what we can see though, the Asics Gel Saga has a perforated leather upper in white, blue and grey suede overlays, and subtle red accents, as seen on the eyelet, tongue trim and edges on the Asics arches. It’s unclear at this time whether or not the sneakers will ever become available to the public, so stay tuned for further info.

Asics WMNS Gel-Lyte III – White/Lime-Blue

The Asics Gel-Lyte III returns to its usual vibrant color palettes, following the release of the less than colorful “Workboot” model we showed you yesterday. This new colorway of the Gel-Lyte III is a surefire hit with a warm, summer-ready makeup of white, grey, lime green and blue tones on a suede and mesh upper. Unfourently though, the sneakers are only available in women’s sizes and are not expected to become available for men. We can hear the guys sobbing now as they read that last line. Available now through Overkill and other select Asics retailers worldwide.

Asics Gel Lyte III “Workboot”

Many will agree, when it comes to the Asics Gel Lyte III, the shoes look their best in bold colors. Every once awhile, though, a subdued color palette comes along that catches everybody’s attention for whatever the reason may be. In this case it’s a pair of boot laces that have a rather basic, black-on-white Gel Lyte III looking like a winner. The sneakers feature an all-black leather upper above a white midsole, which is anything but flashy. However, boot laces and a gum outsole give this Gel Lyte III a unique look that’s not so boring after all.

The shoes are available now through Japanese-retailer atmos. A US release isn’t likely.

With the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III “Mint Leaf” scheduled to release tomorrow, here’s a detailed look at the shoes to whet your appetite. Earlier this week we gave you the backstory behind the sneakers, about how the Mint Green color Ronnie chose is inspired by a mint leaf garden he remembers his grandmother in Israel having when he was a youngster. To say they’re one of Ronnie’s best designs is a stretch, but that’s only cause everything Mr. Fieg’s created with Asics has been extraordinary and it really just to hard to label one the best.

Hanon x Asics Gel Lyte III

Coming off collaborations this year with Reebok and Puma, Scottish-retailer Hanon rekindles its relationship with Asics.

Last year, Hanon got together with Asics on a GT II honoring the Northern Lights. This time around they put the staple Gel Lyte III to work. The sneakers feature a suede base in a mixture of red, orange and yellow. Hanon’s signature flame logo, which represents the shop’s motto, “Keeps on Burning”, is visible in black on the heel and tongue tag.

Release details for the Hanon x Asics Gel Lyte III have yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for further details. In the meantime, check out some photos and a video of the sneakers below.
