Adidas Pro Model ‘Willis Reed’

Showing their respect for Willis Reed and his heroic performance in the 1970 NBA Finals with the New York Knicks Adidas has put together this Pro Model to honor him. For those who dont know the story about Willis Reed let us break it down real quick.
During Game 5 of the 1970 NBA Finals Willis Reed suffered a thigh injury, an injury which many feared would put him out for the rest of the series. Game 7 rolled around and the NY Knicks and its coaches still were not to certain on the condition of Reed. Regardless of his injury and the fact that playing with it could sustain him to a career ending injury, Willis Reed laced up his sneakers and practically limped out onto the court to start a game which would go down in NY Knicks history as the first year the Knicks took home the Championship. Reed scored the first 4 points of the game that night, with those being his only 4 points of the game, but the courage and dedication Willis Reed showed that night will never be forgotten.
Now that you know the history, a quick run down on the shoes. The Willis Reed Adidas Pro Model is designed using a grey upper highlighted with orange and blue, colors inspired by the NY Knicks color scheme. Embroidered in orange on the side of the upper is the final score of the game “113-99″, along with the date May 8, 1970 etched right above the mid-sole. The laces carry some extra detailing and a pair of NY Knicks lace locks are included.
