Melanie Oudin’s Custom Adidas Shoes

melanie-oudin-adidas-sneakers

Melanie Oudin, the lovely 17 year old professional tennis player from Marietta, Georgia originally ranked 70, has made quite a name for herself this year during the US Open. Unfortunately Melanie lost her match in the quarterfinals of the Open yesterday to 9th seeded Caroline Wozniacki. Up until that point she was all the rage in the papers and on the news beating out some top seeded players such as former #1 Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova.

During her spree in the headlines, which is sure not to be over just yet, her pink and yellow adidas sneakers were catching just as much attention as she was. After interviewing Melanie about matches reporters would move on to questions about her sneakers. Melanie has revealed to Yahoo that the adidas sneakers which she was wearing were a custom pair designed just for her. She personally selected the eye catching pink and yellow color scheme and opted for something a little different then what adidas suggested. Instead of having her name added to the sneakers, something which many athletes in the Open do and what adidas had originally designed for her, Melanie asked to have the word “Believe” included on the sole. The sudden change was the idea of Austin Smith, the 15yr old boyfriend of Melanie Oudin. Before the US Open began adidas reported that the sneakers would not be releasing to the public and was an exclusive for Melanie but not given the hype she has made who knows if adidas will change their tune.

The belief that she carried with her during the Open certainty helped her expose herself to the masses in a fashion which is sure to boost her career endorsement wise. Our congratulations goes out to Melanie on her epic trip through the US Open and best of luck to years to come. We look forward to watching you progress and improve throughout the years.
