Arguably one of Fila’s best basketball silhouettes, the Fila Cage is scheduled to return next year during the spring season. Originally introduced in 1993, the Cage has a history that dates back a few years further than both Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse’s signature Fila sneakers, to a time when the company was still struggling to make an impression on the US market. It wasn’t until Grant Hill’s signature sneakers were released in 1995 when Fila started to become popular in the US.
For the most part, the Cage looks exactly like it did 18 years ago. There are, however, a few minor differences before the retro and original models. For starters, the cage-style heel tab, which is one of the most distinctive features of the shoe, is constructed from memory foam as opposed to rubber on the original model that would eventually crack over time. There’s also some small changes in the styling of the midsole.
Shown here are 6 upcoming colorways of the Fila Cage that are slated to hit Fila retailers worldwide during the Spring 2012 season. The color variations include Black/Purple-Blue, Grey/Purple-White, White/Blue-Red, White/Red-Black, White/Blue-Yellow, and Black/Red-White. Will any of them be on your list of must-haves next year?
