A mint leaf garden in Israel became inspiration for Ronnie Fieg‘s newest Asics collaboration.
Every summer, Ronnie and his family would gather at Grandma Fieg’s house in Israel for a family reunion. One of the things the Fieg Family loved most about grandma’s house was the mint leaf garden she had grown in the backyard. The Fieg Family has an obsession with drinking hot or cold tea mixed with fresh mint leaves, so the garden was a godsend to the family. As a youngster, it was Ronnie’s job to collect the branches for the family’s morning tea. The first time he was trusted to pick the branched he was 7, and it was then when he became hooked on mint leaves. The texture of the leaves and their addicting scent mesmerized Ronnie. At times, he would find himself just laying their in the garden, taking in the smell as he ran the leaves through his fingers.
With that memory in mind, Ronnie put together the Asics Gel-Lyte III “Mint Leaf”. The sneakers feature a rich nubuck Mint Green base with mesh on the toe-box and collar. White trim appears around the Asics arches for character while the midsole is a very light grey and the outsole is a darker grey. This is Ronnie’s last Asics collaboration releasing through DavidZ, and you’ll be able to get your hands on the shoes come Friday, July 15th, at David Z in NYC (556 Broadway) and on DavidZ.com.
