Controversy erupted yesterday when photos of the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Black Cement” surfaced showing the shoes with a black nubuck upper. Having known for quite some time the shoes are scheduled to release later this year but never seeing an actual photo of the sneakers, naturally everybody assumed they would be the same as the original model. So when a image of one of the sample models with a nubuck upper hit the web yesterday, the sneaker community went into a frenzy.
Adding to the hysteria, Modern Notoriety provides us with a detailed look at the nubuck sample that’s floating around. Jordan Brand hasn’t confirmed whether the retail version will contain nubuck or not, but sources close to the brand tell us they won’t and that the model we see in stores later this year will be the original leather makeup. Whether that’s true we’ll have to wait and see.
What are your thoughts. Do you hope the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Black Cement” is like the original leather model, or do you like the look of nubuck? Check out the detailed photos below and let us know.
