Since Kobe’s dreams of winning a 6th championship ring were squashed by Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, he’ll have plenty of time to watch his favorite soccer team compete in the UEFA Champions League Finals later this month. When he’s not playing for the Lakers or appearing in Chinese rap videos, Kobe likes to kick back and root on his favorite soccer team, FC Barcelona, who’s preparing to faceoff against Manchester United later this month in the UEFA Champions League Finals.
To coincide with the event and to show some love for his favorite soccer team, Kobe worked with Nike designers to put together two FC Barcelona-inspired colorways of his signature sneaker, the Zoom Kobe VI. The two-sneaker pack includes Home and Away versions of the ZKVI that mimic the colors of the FC Barcelona uniforms. The Home version features a blue base with accents of yellow and dark red, while the Away version sports a bright red base, referred to as Mango, with contrasting hits of black. Both sneakers also include a striped inner lining and a FCB shield on the backside of the tongue. The Away version also manages to work in a translucent outsole. The Home version does not. Photos of the Away version have been floating around for a few weeks now. This is, however, the first time we’re seeing the Home pair in blue.
According to what’s been confirmed at this time, the Nike Zoom Kobe VI “FC Barcelona Pack” is scheduled to release on May 18th, exclusively through European retailers. The pack is not expected to be released in the US. We’ll let you know if we hear otherwise.
