Unless you live in Japan, chances are the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo23” isn’t part of your collection.
Celebrating Jordan Brand’s new upcoming basketball tournament in Tokyo, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo23” released on April 29th exclusively through Nike Harajuku, Nike Store Kichijoji and Nike Store Narita Airport alongside a Jordan CP3.IV also honoring the tourney. The sneakers feature a yellow upper with accents of grey on the eyelets and tongue. White covers the midsole, yellow appears again on the “shark teeth” and a translucent outsole caps the underbelly. Additional details include a black “T23” logo embroidered on the outer heel and a pair specially designed insoles featuring the number 23.
For Air Jordan collectors, a limited, international-only release as such is the creme de la creme. Thankfully, the internet connects sneaker heads from all ends of the globe and provides them with a way to get our hands on these sneakers no matter their location. On the flip side though, these sneakers come with fees that are usually out of reach of your average consumer. With that being said, if you’re a collector who doesn’t worry about price tags and can drop a couple bills on a pair of sneakers, several sizes of the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Tokyo23” are up for grabs on eBay.
