Out of the five upcoming Air Jordan 5 releases, only one is an original model. The Air Jordan 5 Retro Black/Varsity Red-Metallic Silver is the only OG version of the AJ5 that’s scheduled to be released this year, but it won’t be the first time they’re returning to retailers. Originally released back in 1990 when the Air Jordan 5 was first introduced, the Air Jordan 5 Black/Varsity Red-Metallic Silver has been retro’ed twice since, once in 2000 and again in 2007. In terms of differences between the retro’s, the Jumpman logo on the heel appears in white instead of black and Jordan’s former number, 23, is embroidered on the outer heel which was included on the 2007 retro but not the 2000 retro or the original 1990 model. It’s also been reported that this year’s release has a softer suede material throughout the upper than the previous retro models. While we wait for an official release date to reveal itself, check out some new detailed photos of the sneakers below.
