When Penny retired from the NBA, Nike not only retro’ed his signature sneakers but they also used them to create an entirely new Penny hybrid – the Nike 1/2 Cent. They’ve done the same for Ken Griffey Jr, who recently retired from the game of baseball after 22 long seasons. Along with bringing back The Kid’s signature trainers, Nike created a new hybrid for him known as the Air Max Jr.
The Nike Air Max Jr has the general shape and design of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, but with an updated look and newer technology, which includes the use of Nike’s lightweight Torch material and a 360-degree Max Air sole. The sneakers hit retailers earlier this month in a Black/Varsity Red colorway and now they’re being released in this White/Chlorine Blue color option. White fills the entire upper of the sneakers while Chlorine Blue accents the tongue, the underlay beneath the Torch material, the trim around the Swoosh and the Max Air sole. If you’re interested in these or the previously released pair in Black/Varsity Red you can get either of them now through Eastbay for $160.
