This past weekend, Kanye West performed at the Coachella Music Festival in California, where he told the more than 75,000 people in attendance that it was the most important show he played since his mother died in 2007. Considering Mr. West performed at the Grammys in 2008, which in itself is a huge, the Coachella festival obviously has special meaning to him. Therefore, he went the whole 9 yards with his wardrobe since it was a special night. Aside from wearing his signature red suit complete with gold chains, Kanye laced up the Nike Air Yeezy 2 when he came up to close the festival on Sunday night.
Judging by the photo stills from Kanye’s performance and the preview images of the sneakers that have surfaced online since, the upper of the Kanye-designed Nike-produced Air Yeezy 2 looks similar to the original pair. However, instead of standard leather, the Air Yeezy sequel combines synthetic materials with a textured, croc-like leather throughout the upper. We can also see that the sole unit is completely different than the original model and appears as if its the same tooling used on the Air Tech Challenge II.
Very little is known about the Nike Air Yeezy 2 at this time, so stay tuned for further details as we learn more leading up to a release.
