This weekend will see plenty of co-branded sneaker releases. Reebok and Bodega hit the great outdoors with a trail ready hiking boot, Concepts goes nautical with New Balance on a collaborative release honoring a dead president, and for the third year in a row, X-Girl comes together with New Balance on a special hiker for the ladies. Outside the world of collaborations, Nike will release a new colorway of “Juniors” signature sneaker for the kids, and Jordan Brand will bring back a signature Air Jordan model for the first time in 20 years. These are your friendly release reminders for Saturday, April 16th, 2011.
Bodega x Reebok Night Sky “Nappy Dugouts”
Bodega teams up with Reebok on their classic Night Sky hiking boot. Dubbed the “Nappy Dugouts”, the boots feature a grey suede and blue nylon upper over a gum sole. Bodega’s name appears on a custom tongue tag and the sneakers come included with three sets of laces, a t-shirt and a water bottle. The sneakers are scheduled to release in limited numbers exclusively through Bodega. Retail price will be $135.
CNCPTS x New Balance 999 “The Kennedy”
Concepts teams up with New Balance on the 999 silhouette for a sneaker they call the “The Kennedy”. The sneakers are inspired by the Massachusetts sailing community and the late John F. Kennedy’s love for sailing, featuring a nautical-inspired style that’s ready to hit the open waters. Several shades of grey suede construct the bulk of the upper, combined with lesser amounts of khaki suede, white mesh and blue nylon. Accents of red appear on the lace holders, which secure a pair of white and blue striped laces. CNCPTS is spelled out across the tongue in nautical alphabet flags and again in regular lettering on the insoles. The primary colors of the shoes references the sea faring signposts which explicitly bears its mark in the semaphore pattern grid used in the foot bed. The sneakers are scheduled to release tomorrow exclusively through Concepts in Cambridge Massachusetts. Phone orders will be expected on Monday, April 18th.
X-Girl x New Balance H574
For the third consecutive year, X-Girl, the Japanese women’s fashion label owned by X-Large, and New Balance come together on a collaborative release for the ladies. This is the fourth New Balance sneaker X-Girl has designed in their three years of working with the shoe manufacturer. This year, X-Girl and New Balance worked on the H574 sneaker-slash-hiking boot, designing the sneakers with a black and white lightening-striped pattern, and subtle accents of pink.
Nike Air Griffey Max 1 (GS) Black/White
The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 may be a thing of the past for the guys, who are now being served with releases of the Nike Air Griffey Max 2, but that’s not the case for the kids. This weekend, Nike is releasing this Black/White Air Griffey Max 1 exclusively for the kids. You should be able to find the sneakers at most Nike retailers that sold the model’s for the guys.
Air Jordan 7 Retro “Bordeaux”
The one sneaker this weekend that needs no introduction. In fact, a release reminder is kind of even unnecessary for these considering they’ve been one of the most talked about Air Jordan releases for the past several months. For the first time in 20 years, Jordan Brand is re-releasing the Air Jordan 7 Retro “Bordeaux”. As you’ve probably heard a dozen times now, unlike most of the original Air Jordan models the Bordeaux’s have never been retro’ed since their original release. Needless to say, these are on every Jordan fanatics must-have list. You can expect long lines and sell outs across the nation. Find them at your local Jordan Brand retailer and through select distributors online, such as NikeStore and FinishLine.
