Yesterday, a preview of the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Black History Month” hit the web and instantly sparked the interest of Air Jordan enthusiasts and sneaker collectors alike. The teaser didn’t give us much to look at but the basics were pretty apparent as far as what the shoes looked like color wise. Thanks to our friends at ModernNotoriety, we now have our first full look at the black and gold Air Jordan 3, as well as an on the feet fit pic provided by a user on the Chinese message board HoopChina. The sneakers feature a tonal black upper constructed from nubuck and leather very much like that on the Air Jordan III “Black Cat”. The two quickly differ from each other though as these feature gold accents on the branding and eyelets and special laser etched graphics, including the year 1987 when the Air Jordan III was first released and a hand with 3 fingers raised, replacing the elephant print on the heel. If you’re paying attention to details, you’ll notice the pair in the fit pic also includes gold contrast stitching. It’s unknown right now which of the two is the retail pair, but from what’s been reported by reliable sources, the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Black History Month” is slated to release in February through select Jordan Brand accounts as a quickstrike release. We’ll have to wait until than to see which is closet to the production model.
