China’s been one of the few country’s we’ve seen repeatedly honored on LeBron James’ signature sneakers over the year. The country-specific designs started back in 2006 on LeBron’s third signature sneaker, the Nike Zoom LeBron 3, and have continued to used on every signature model since then. Now on his 8th sneaker with Nike, LeBron James and the footwear giant pair to honor China once again, this time on the Nike Air Max LeBron VIII. In the signature colors of China, the sneakers feature a pure white base constructed from leather and flywire with accents of red applied to the trim around the Swoosh, the inner liner, the midsole and part of the outsole. The visible Air unit is left colorless in an attempt to blend it in with the translucent outsole which appears to have a subtle red speckle. What’s really unique about the sneakers though and what ties them into China more so than the colorway is Lebron’s lion logo on the tongue which has been redesigned to look like an ancient Chinese stone carving.
From what’s being reported by LRJ23, who’s been nice enough to provided us with these photos, the Nike Air Max LeBron VIII “China” will release exclusively in China on October 1st, 2010. Stay tuned for further details and hopefully more photos.
