Sneaker Freaker has finally announced official release details for their latest Gel Lyte III creation. Inspired by the classic 1970’s Australian sex-romp comedy film “Alvin Purple”, the sneakers, which go under the same name as the flick, boast a premium, multi-textured upper featuring suede, matte felt, and mesh. Shades of purple, grey and white are used for the color blocking, believed to be representing the box the VHS movie came in years ago and a “Rated R” logo appears on the heel of the sneakers. If you reside in the US and hoped on getting a pair, you better use your online connections to make it happen. Unfortunately, the Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Lyte III “Alvin Purple” will not be releasing stateside. They will however be releasing through 24 retailers throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and the United Kingdom, on October 1st, 2010, in a limited run of 276 pairs.
