We’re sad to see The Kid, Ken Griffey Jr, retire from baseball after giving us 22 strong years, but at the same time we’re glad Nike’s countered his retirement by releasing old and new colorways of his signature sneakers. The Air Griffey Max 1 is by far his most popular models from over the years and it’s defiantly shown as they’ve been leading the comeback. We though the Metallic Platinum version that released as a Quickstrike in June was gonna be the last of the bunch releasing but it appears that’s not the case.
As part of there Spring 2011 Collection Nike will be releasing this White/Black-Sport Red version of the Air Griffey Max 1 which as SneakerNews points out, is colored to match the cleats Griffey wore during the 2007 All-Star Game. Could this pair be a tribute to that very day, a day when Griffey made his last of 13 All-Star Game appearances? As a big Air Griffey Max 1 fan I defiantly can’t wait for another new colorway to drop. Who else is on board for another new colorup?
