Converse and Jordan Brand both fall under the Nike umbrella but believe it or not the three have never teamed up together as one. That is until they grouped their efforts together to put on the World Basketball Festival this month in New York City. Converse hasn’t come through with anything in the footwear department to honor the event, leaving the market wide open to Jordan Brand and Nike. Jordan’s big release for the WBF is the Air Jordan 7 “Olympic” belonging to the “For The Love of the Game” Pack. Making a comeback in it’s original colorway, the Air Jordan 7 is the only sneaker from the “For The Love of the Game” Pack which hasn’t been redesigned using University Blue. They do however consist of one minor detail to differ them from the OG’s. That would be the heart shaped basketball logo on the heel, a detail which ties the Olympic’s into the “For The Love of the Game” Pack regardless of their colors.
A statewide release is officially set for August 13th with a limited quantity being distributed through select Jordan Brand accounts. Japanese retailers such as Mita Sneakers have already recieved the sneakers, providing us with these great detailed photos to check out as we wait it out another 10 days.
