Lance Armstrong’s hopes to add an eighth yellow jersey to his closet were tarnished earlier this afternoon in Stage 3 of the Tour de France. Lance unfortunately suffered a blowout on the cobblestones in Northern France which slowed his pace and dropped him back to 18th overall. Thankfully though, the fact Lance continues to ride, no matter his position, his goals are being reached mile by mile. At the end of the day, championship jersey’s aside, Lance’s LIVESTRONG foundation is his main focus and the reason why he chose to get back on his bike. Lance rides with the goal to help fund cancer research through his LIVESTRONG foundation which distributes money to a countless amount of cancer organizations with the hopes to one day find a cure for this ill inflicted disease.
For his last ride Team RadioShack teamed with Lance Armstrong and the LIVESTRONG Foundation and to commemorate their pairing Nike’s presented us with this new LIVESTRONG LunarGlide+ 2. Using the color palette from the Team RadioShack riders, the LunarGlide+ 2 features a mixture of black and two hues of grey through the upper, adding in accents of challenge red on the eyelets, Swoosh, flywire thread and midsole. It wouldn’t be a LIVESTRONG release without a hit of yellow, so Nike threw in pair of varsity maize eyelets and a cut and sew LIVESTRONG tag across the tongue.
NikeStore has a full size run for $100 a piece, so hit em up if you’re interested in scooping a pair.
