While we’re preparing to celebrate the 4th of July here in the United States, the Spaniards are gearing up for San Fermin fiesta. Staring July 6th and ending July 14th, the week-long festival is held in honor of Saint Fermin, the co-patron of Navarra, and includes dancers, street entertainers and all sorts of traditional and folklore events which have been know to attract upwards of 1 million people from across the globe. One of the most notable events that takes place during the San Fermin festival is the running of the bulls where fearless runners take to the streets in a foot race across a pack of raging bulls barreling down on em.
In honor of the world famous event, Barcelona-based boutique 24 Kilates and Pamplona-based wine skin maker Las Tres ZZZ teamed up together and reached out to Asics to produce the Gel Lyte Speed “San Fermin”. Inspired by a Spanish bota wine-bag, which you’ll see a lot of people carrying around the festival, the Gel Lyte Speed “San Fermin” features a predominantly tan upper with white mesh on the toe, tongue and on a small portion along the ankle. Accents of red appearing in all the right places make this shoe a winner for it’s color blocking and various 24 Kilates applied to the tongue, heel and laces is sure to remind the locals that 24 Kilates is their premier destination for the freshest kicks and gear in Spain.
The sneakers are set to officially release on July 10th, 2010, at 24 Kilates to coincide with the party of San Fermin in Pamplona. There will also be a “Fiesta Kit” to go along with the sneakers, but it has not be reported at this time on just what they will include so stay tuned for further details.
