The Nike SB line is about to welcome yet another change, one of which may have some Nike SB fanatics crying in discus as they have with the other alternations the company has made. After removing the stuffed tongues and doing away with their branding on the lace baggies, Nike SB is preparing to launch a SB Dunk Mid Pro without it’s standard ankle strap.
While the strapless SB Dunk Mid Pro provides for a smooth look, such a change could have those who wear SB’s for what their actually intended for seeing the sneaker as a total failure. The SB Dunk Mid has long been recognized for it’s strap, a feature which is both loved and hated, so while skateboarders may distance themselves from the strapless model, street savvy sneakerheads who were once opposed to the shoes may now be sucked in by the clean lines and the standard Dunk look.
According to HighSnobiety, the Sport Red/Black Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro seen here is expected to be part of the Nike SB July 2010 Releases, so if you’re feeling the strapless look of the Dunk Mid watch for them to hit your local retailer within the coming weeks, otherwise keep your fingers crossed that Nike SB brings the straps back.
