Kicks Lab, a Dunkxchange-style event where sneakerheads buy, sell and trade sneakers, went down this past weekend in Tokyo, Japan, and as you can imagine the venue was loaded with some of the freshest sneakers known to man. DJ Clark Kent happened to be on deck to show off some of his kicks, which is usually always a crowd-pleasing collection, but it took one sneaker from another enthusiast on hand to steal the show.
Seen here is an extremely rare sample of the Air Jordan IV “Black Cat” which TY from Leaders in Chicago came upon while browsing around the tables at the event. To bring the the Black Cat moniker to life, the upper was made up entirely from black pony hair to give the sneakers a feline-like feel, resembling the soft coat of a fierce black panther. It’s unknown why it was chosen to never release this version of the Black Cat’s, even if it was just as an extremely limited release, but it’s imaged it had something to do with the fact hairy sneakers aren’t particularly the most desirable. That’s just a guess thought.
Would you prefer these over the Black Cat IV’s that you may already have? Would you cop em if Jordan Brand brought em out as a special release? Or do you not even prefer all black sneakers, pony haired or not?
