Nike Dunk Wi-Fi Sneakers

Nike Dunk Wi Fi Sneakers

I feel somebody needs to clear the air here on these Nike Dunk Wi-Fi sneakers and get the record straight. This weekend sites such as Complex posted these Nike Dunks saying things such as “No word yet if these wearable sensors will be mass produced”. Well im sad to say it but i shake my head at the Complex crew for this faulty info this time. Which is usually unexpected from them. These sneakers are in fact over 1 year old and are a collaboration design between MSTRPLN and UBIQ. Complex got that part right atleast. However, it states cleary on the MSTRPLN website that these sneakers will designed over a year ago and that there is only 1 pair and that they will NEVER be mass produced. Regardless of what you may read on some other sites who are ripping the info these sneakers wont be available. Remember where you got the RIGHT info, here at Sneaker Obsession. Follow the jump for more info.

However, since we are taking the time to correct the mixup out there we might as well tell you a little bit about the sneaker. We have seen many products from shirts to hats which are designed with a wifi detector so its not all that unusual to see a pair of sneakers with wifi. The Dunk Wi-Fi is called “A Step In The Right Direction” and is equipped with an integrated wireless internet detection unit embedded under the flap of the left shoe. Once the pressure sensitive insole is activated, the unit scans the surrounding area for Wi-Fi signals and displays the result through the LEDs on the front of the sneaker. The three LEDs on the flap enclosure represent the signal strength of any wireless internet signals within a 50 meter area. A blinking LED represents no signal, while a solid LED shows that there is a signal present. The aesthetics of the shoe keep in theme with a covert and stealthy feel. This is represented through the subdued all-black colorway and additional technical features, notably the shroud style lace-saver that takes design cues from the skate shoes of the late 80′s. Additionally, the ASRD uses a dual-lacing system developed so that the shoe could be laced either internally with speed loops, or laced in the conventional manner. Lace locks keep everything under control. Be sure to check out the MSTRPLN website where you can find more info about these and how they wont be produced.
