Before being drafted into the NBA in 1985, and before starting his own line of footwear in the early 90’s, Patrick Ewing was a Nike man. While playing for his alma mater Georgetown, the Hoya Destroyer was known for wearing the Nike Legend Mid.
As part of their efforts to bring back the old-school basketball sneakers from year’s past, Nike’s reissued the 1983 classic as part of their Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. Adding to the two colorways that have already been released, Nike presents us with a third color option of the Legend Mid.
Using a mixture of materials, this Nike Legend Mid features silver perforated leather on the toe, silver nylon on the tongue and smooth full-grain leather on the entire mid and heel sections. Black textured leather with a grid design, the same material used on the recently released Black Nike Dynasty 81, was then included around the toe, on the lace panels and on the heel tab. Smooth black leather wraps up the Swoosh while purple accents on the laces and tongue tag help make the neutral colored base ‘pop’.
If you’re interested, the sneakers are available now through Finish Line for $70.
