With the help of their poster child Baron Davis and his signature line of BD Doom’s, Chinese footwear manufacture Li-Ning has had a pretty warm welcome on US soil. Being a Golden State native who was born and raised in Los Angeles, attending High School in Santa Monica and college at UCLA, Li-Ning has produced a limited edition version of Baron Davis’ off-court shoe honoring his Cali roots.

Modifying their Classic 001 model for the first time, Li-Ning has produced what is now known as the BD 001 using a color scheme inspired by the L.A. Clippers with insignia resembling Davis’ alma matter. Your basic Clippers colorway of red/white-blue is displayed throughout the shoes with white acting as the base and red and blue adding in some accent coloring. On the heel of the shoes is a “UCBD” logo which is stylized like that of UCLA and sitting across the tongue is Baron Davis’ signature logo. To cap things off Li-Ning finished the shoes off with a clear rubber outsole consisting of an aerial map view of Los Angeles which pinpoints the locations of Baron Davis’ former UCLA college and the Staples Center he now calls home.

I can’t be exactly sure how many pairs of this limited edition Li-Ning BD 001 “UCBD” have been produced, some reports in the past reported 50 and more recent ones have called for 100. But what I can tell you is that no matter what the number may be you can get yourself a pair now through Li-Ning’s webstore for $150 in sizes up to 14.
