Miami, FL based sneaker company Silvano Apparel sparked a little controversy the other month when they released some images of a Jeff Staple-inspired Pigeon version of their their Fly High model. While many of you found the silhouette to be pretty appealing and thought the colorway was a nice one, you just couldn’t get over the fact that Silvano “ripped off” Jeff’s signature pigeon graphic. Jeff is a guy that’s well respected in the industry, so to see a design which he is known for making his own used on a sneaker which he has no hand in, didn’t sit well with some of you. (Sound familiar? Think KAWS x BESPOKE)
Wanting to gain back you’re interest and not have you feeling as if they’re “bitters”, Silvano presents us with a look at another Fly High which carries it’s own unique colorway. Well, maybe not entirely unique. More like inspired, but still Fly none-the-less.
Known as the “Chocolate Chip Cookie”, this particular Fly High appears to consist of a colorway taken straight from the Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie box sitting next to the sneakers. A light brown leather wraps the base of the shoes. Covering the toe and the midfoot is a darker shade of brown in a smooth suede, while the overlay on the side panel has cream suede applied to it. A dark brown rubber sole unit wraps up the lower half.
We haven’t been provided with an official release date at this time but from what we do know, the Fly High “Pigeon” and other select colorways and styles from Silvano will start becoming available in August 2010, so it’s expected these will be surfacing around the same time.
