Nike Air Max 90 “Na’vis”

It’s not uncommon for Nike to build off the success of certain movies by releasing sneakers inspired by said movies. Take for example the Ferris Bueller SB Dunks, or the Dawn of the Dead SB Trainer 1, or the McFly Hyperdunks, or the countless Air Jordan releases honoring Spike Lee’s “Do Right Thing” flick. That’s not even breaking the surface either. You still got Oompa Loompa Dunks, Coraline Dunks, Ninja Turtle Dunks, White Men Can’t Jump Hyperdunks and a slew of unreleased models such as the famous Freddy Kruger SB Dunks.

Now we can add Avatar to the list as Mental Kickshas just provided us with images of the Nike Air Max 90 “Na’vis” inspired by the blue alien-like characters from the movie. To represent the creators Nike wrapped the Air Max 90’s in blue snake skin with faint hits of purple and yellow worked into the material. I haven’t seen the movie, I’ve only seen the commercials, but I’m not quite sure how snake skin represents the Na’vis. Yes they were blue, and some yellow worked into their bodies but they didn’t have textured snake skin. Good thing I’m not crazy over the movie or I’d probably be cursing Nike for this one.

It’s unclear whether or not the sneakers will ever be released but according to what Mental Kicks is reporting they’ve been told there’s less than 5 pairs in existence at this time.
