This year when 32 National Football Teams descend upon South Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup they’ll all be apart of history as soon as they step a turf on the foreign soil. This year marks the very first year the FIFA World Cup Championship has ever been held in an African nation and in honor of the historic event a few of the footwear companies have been lining up special release’s paying tribute to the South Africa and some of the teams participating for a chance to claim the World Cup in the name of their country.
Up’ing the ante on their personally World Cup 2010 Collection Nike’s releasing the Dunk Hi AC “South Africa” which belongs to a bigger lineup consisting of Dunk AC’s in team colors of the Netherlands, Brazil and France. As you would expect the Dunk’s yield a color scheme taken straight from the jerseys worn by the South African soccer team with green canvas making up for the entire base of the upper, white leather fabricating the Swoosh and a hit of yellow on the pinstripe wrapping around the top of the vulcanized sole. There’s also a pinch of yellow on the tongue tag which makes it evident who the shoes honor with the “South Africa” text in yellow.
The sneakers are available at select retailers overseas such as Atmos and should be touching down in the States soon so keep your eyes open.
