As the NY Yankees returned to New York for their home opener and a celebration awarding them their World Series rings, Jordan Brand released an image of this specially designed Air Jordan 1 Phat Low paying tribute to the most famous man in baseball, Derek Jeter.
Being a sponsored Jordan Brand athlete, one of two in the MLB to be exact, it’s no shocker to see a pair of Air Jordan’s honoring the Yankees shortstop. I mean, the man does have his own signature sneaker with the brand, as well as a boatload of Air Jordan cleats which we’re sure many would love to get their hands on. That’s not gonna happen anytime soon though, so if you’re a Jeter fan and would like to get your hands on a little Jeter memorabilia in the form of sneakers this Air Jordan 1 Phat Low is you’re best bet.
To commemorate the Yankees All-Star who now has 5 rings with the team, Jordan Brand dressed the Air Jordan 1 Phat Low in a variety of white fabrics, using navy blue contrast stitching throughout the entire shoe. Jeter’s #2 is printed on the lace stay on the tongue and on the metal keychain hangtag which is included with the sneakers. Just like the Air Jordan Alpha 1 designed for his teammate CC Sabathia, the Phat Low created for Jeter features 27 tally marks along the toe to represent the 27 World Series Championships the New York Yankees have won.
No official release details have been made available at this time but it’s imaginable they’ll be releasing soon, possibly as a House of Hoops release, so keep your eyes peeled for more info.
