Besides being known as the pitcher who helped the New York Yankees win their 27th World Series Campionship, C.C. Sabathia is known throughout the sneaker world as a fellow Air Jordan fanatic who’s got an abundance of PE models, including one of a kind cleats you’ll never get your hands on.
While none of the previous PE’s have ever released Jordan Brand decided to throw us a bone this time around and release a limited amount of Air Jordan Alpha 1 Outdoor which were originally designed for C.C. Sabathia. The shoes sport a combination of blue and black with plenty of perforated detailing and the numbers 09 on the tongue of the left sneaker and 23 on the tongue of the right. It’s reported that there’s also 3M detailing used throughout the upper, however it’s not exactly clear what panels the 3M is used on since there are no photos using a flash. Since ’09 is engraved on the removable black strap to pay tribute to the year Sabathia joined the Yanks and a total of 27 tally marks appear along the toe to honor the Yankees 27 Championships. Additional details include a tag on the inside of the sneakers which reads “With this special release of the Air Jordan Alpha AJ1 Outdoor we celebrate C.C. Sabathia’s dominating season en route the 2009 championship with a shoe that speaks to his edge and contemporary style”, a metal hang tag with the Jumpman logo on one side, the number 52 on the other, and laser engraved graphics on the lace panels and heel.
No official release details are available but it’s imaginable that these will be limited to a House of Hoops due to the fact there’s reported to be only 150 pairs releasing worldwide. OSneaker has a few sizes in stock and ready to ship so if you’re interested hit em up now to see what’s still available.
