Nike SB P-Rod III “Cinco De Mayo”

Whether your of Mexican heritage or not, chances are come the fifth of May you’ll be getting wasted with your buddies and the rest of the nation for Cinco De Mayo. While the day commemorates a historic event in the history of Mexico, the day in which the Mexican army defeated French forces during the Battle of Puebla in 1862, it has more or less become known as a drinking holiday here in the States with no acknowledgment of the battle what so ever. Neither here nor there though, we aren’t here to discuss the history of Mexico. We’re more interested in the sneakers, and being a special day you can best believe Nike’s whipped up a little something special.

Serving as a perfect candidate for a Cinco De Mayo release comes this brand new P-Rod III which we originally previewed back in Steptember. Seeing as how Paul is Mexican-American, Nike couldn’t have picked a better template to work the Cinco De Mayo theme into. Inspired by the Mexican flag, the shoes feature a green suede upper capped off by a white leather Nike Swoosh. Accents of red wrap up the color scheme as they’re applied to the eyelets, Nike SB branding on the heel, Paul’s signature on the tongue and on portions of the mid-sole and outsole.

When thought it’s a Cinco De Mayo release and you’d expect them to release in May, you can get yourself a pair now through West in NYC.
