Yesterday we revealed to you what we believed would be one of the more anticipated Air Penny III releases of the year, a Black/Metallic Silver rendition which is scheduled to release through House of Hoops later this year. In addition to the previously mentioned Air Penny III Nike’s whipped up an exclusive Air Pippen I which will also touch down at House of Hoops.
House of Hoops exclusives are common in todays market, so when we found out the Nike would be releasing the Pip’s this year in a small selection of colorways there was no doubt in our minds that there would be a limited HOH release to follow. However, unlike many HOH exclusives we don’t suspect this particular Pippen Retro to be the fan favorite out of the bunch, which is good in a way as the more popular color schemes will be more readily available for consumers.
Anyway, for this edition of the Air Pippen Nike dressed the shoes up with black upper in tumbled leather, a white midsole and a black outsole. Color accents come in the form of a yellow-to-red (sunrise-to-sunset) gradient on the plastic pieces along the upper with the same gradient design transferred over to the laces and full-length air unit. The gradient accents may appear to be a little to much for some people, specially when you go and add them within the air unit in addition to the plastic pieces throughout the upper, so as I said I suspect these won’t be the more popular of the color schemes made available. That’s just my take on it though, and I’m sure Nike hopes the consumers prove me wrong come day of release.
If you’re interested watch for the sneakers to release this coming Friday, April 2nd, through House of Hoops locations. Via: Foot Locker
