The Air Jordan Alpha 1 can try as hard as it wants but it’ll never be able to replace the original Air Jordan 1. While the new performance features added to the Alpha 1 are a big bonus and pay off heavily, the Air Jordan 1 pretty much paved the way for the sneakers game as we know it today and has history which can’t ever be duplicated.
It’s been an on going debate as to whether or not Jordan Brand is more harm then good with the Alpha 1. Many believe it’s a disgrace to release to see the AJ1 revamped in such a way, others however feel the new additions added make the AJ1 more competitive with today’s basketball sneakers. Valid points have been made from both sides, and it really all comes down to how much respect you have for the originals.
Are debates mean nothing to the corporate heads though, and whether we like em or not, the big-wigs are gonna drop whatever they feel is profitable, or “stylish” for that matter since we all know there’s been plenty of Jordan Brand releases landing on the discount racks. Luckily the Air Jordan Alpha 1 hasn’t faced that horror yet, and that could be thanks to the evenly divided consumers who like and dislike the Alpha 1, giving the sneakers just enough to stay afloat.
Keeping the lineup strong Jordan Brand will be releasing atleast three new Air Jordan Alpha 1’s between the months of May and June. The releases consist of a predominantly black version with a shot of metallic silver, a White/Black-Varsity Red number and lastly a Black/Varsity Maize colorup which is my personal favorite of the trio.
