Throughout 2009 Nike released various colorways of the Air Griffey Max 1 as part of a plan to butter us up for an upcoming reissue of another signature Griffey shoe, the Air Griffey Max GDII. The Air Griffey Max GDII originally released 8 years ago and this year Nike will be bringing the shoes back in a selection of colorways to pick and choose from.
Last week we announced that the OG Black/Varsity Red version would be one of the releases, and now we’ve received word that this Black/Blue version will also touch down this year. Premium Black leather is used throughout the entire upper with Blue accents applied within the full length Air Max unit, on the ousole, on Ken Griffey Jr’s Swingman logo on the tongue, and on Nike’s Swoosh near the ankle. These are not to be confused with the Black/University Blue version which originally released nearly 10 years ago, although I wouldn’t mind seeing those make a return either.
At this time no official release details are available but according to reports by TSG this particular version of the Air Griffey Max GDII is expected to be part of Nike’s Holiday 2010 lineup. When further information becomes available we’ll be sure to let you know so keep it locked for further updates.
