Not all to long before his death in August DJ AM posted a message on his Twitter informing all his fans he had gotten together with Nike to design his very own pair of Nike Dunks, a pair to be put into production and released to the public. Soon after DJ AM passed away and it began to look like what could of been was not going to happen. We then learned from DJ Premier that the Dunks were actually part of the Rivarly Series, and were still set to release once the details were worked out with DJ AM’s family. There however were still no pictures of the sneakers at that time.
The other week brought us our first preview of the DJ AM x Nike Dunk High Premium and as you should expect, or may have seen, it sparked quite a few conversations throughout the community. The sneakers instantly caught the interest of many with its unique design elements inspired by a Techniques turntable, along with the official branding on DJ AM himself. And, it’s unfortunate to say it, and that is had to be this way, but with the passing of DJ AM the sneakers gained even more hype then they would have if he was still alive.
According to Hypebeast, who provided these photos giving us a closer look at the shoes, the DJ AM x Nike Dunk High Premium is a Quickstrike model which is currently available at select Nike Sportswear retailers. No mention has been made on the retail price, or just exactly how many pairs have been produced, but if your interested in copping a pair you best hit up your local Nike Sportswear retailers now cause once the word gets out and people locate them they are bound to sell quick.
