Would You Rock Em? returns for week 2. If you didnt tune in to Would You Rock Em? Week 1 let us just fill you in a little bit here about whats going on. This new segment which will fall on every Sunday of the week has been put together to display various colorways of sneakers which we have designed. The lineup will sometimes feature colorways inspired by various products or possibly just abunch of random color forms which we think are hot. This is something we have done since the start of Sneaker Obsession and have decided to bring it back as a new weekly feature.
For Would You Rock Em? Week 2 we have put together a few sneakers carrying colorways inspired by a few of the Super Mario characters. In the lineup we have colorups inspired by characters such as Mario and Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Toadstool, the Goomba’s and more. Nike Dunk High ‘Super Mario’. For some reason or another Mario seems like he would rock a pair of Highs over a pair of lows, therefore i put together this colorway inspired by Super Mario’s outfit. Im not really into red/blue color schemes but it is what it is.
Luigi seemed like another Dunk High guy to me. With all the running these guys do i would imagine they would prefer a pair of highs for the added support around the ankle instead of wearing a pair of lows and possibly rolling their ankles. Just like the Mario pair the Luigi Nike Dunk High sports a colorup familiar to that of his outfit.
This pair is designed after the Princess from the Super Mario games, i believe her name was Princess Toadstool (Correct me if im wrong). Given their bright pink colorway they have obviously been designed for the female crowd out there.
I thought Yoshi should wear a pair of Highs as well, since he does a lot of running and jumping just like the Bros, not to mention they ride him sometimes (pause) and put all that weight on his feet. However, we already have three pairs of Highs above so i just went with a pair of Lows and rolled with it. Particularly speaking im not quite sure if im a fan of the Yoshi Nike Dunks. Hes one of my favorite characters from the Super Mario games however his bright neon green color with the red turtle shell doesnt really work on a pair of sneakers for me, atleast not in a way i could come up with.
Here we have a pair inspired by the mushroom head of Toadstool. Basically i just put together a white/red color scheme with a few red circles. Some of you hit me up on Twitter and sugested a add a little bit of blue into the design but i just couldnt fit it in anywhere where i thought it flowed, nor could i really land on a shade of blue i liked.
The Super Mario video games wouldnt of been complete without the Goomba’s so i had to put together a colorway inspired by them. The sneakers consists of a brown/chocolate colorway using three shades of brown on the upper with black on the outsole.
Lastly i did a pair for King Koopa. I gotta admit, these are pretty odd and the design is defiantly out there. King Koopa was a reptile/turtle creator so instead of just using a simple colorway i decided to try and use a reptile pattern along with a turtle shell pattern. The turtle shell pattern doesnt exactly look like a turtle shell pattern but it was the best i could find online. I personally cant say im feeling the design myself but i figured i would throw it out there anyway.
