There have been a ton of questions surrounding the 1Vote campaign. The campaign was inspired by Nike’s 1Night Only event where attendees voted for the best Air Force 1 of all time, ultimately leading to the small re-release of the Stash Hi’s. This inspired the brand to try using this approach to spark sales and hype in the three major sneaker markets: Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York. The 1Vote may be a trial for future things to come from Nike’s marketing sector, and could put a serious hit on the resale market. The campaign could also possibly give a big boost to the resale market because of the small quantity and the city by city exclusivity of the re-releases.
So far, the results are as follows. In Baltimore, the Ueno Sakura Air Force 1′s have been chosen and will re-release during the summer of 2008. Because of the term “re-issue” and not “retro”, it seems likely that the release will include wooden box and all.
In Philadelphia, the current leading vote getter is the 2003 Varsity Red LE lows, surprisingly followed by the Ice Pink ’05 Women’s lows, and followed up by the Hufquakes. The Mark Smith II’s dropped from 1st last week all the way to 4th. The voting still has two weeks to go, so things could drastically change in Philly. Hopefully, things will change and all you Philly heads will vote for my PURPLE AIR FORCE 1 HIGH’S!!!! Just 70 votes to go!
New York will have its chance to vote in January.
