Nike Dunk ‘Planet Of The Apes’ Customs

Sneaker customizer Chrisco presents to us his latest project, the Planet Of The Apes Nike Dunks. Before you get it twisted, the sneakers are not inspired by the late 60s Planet Of The Apes movie. Instead the sneakers take inspiration from the Adventures On The Planet Of The Apes comic book series released by Marvel Comics in the 70s.

The Dunks you see before you have completely been redone by Chrisco with all new stitching and key elements tying the sneakers to the comics. For starters Chrisco broke out the wood burner and laid out a sick looking elephant like print on the black suede heel panel and around the ankle. After that some black ”Ape’ hair was added to the mid-panels and a Marvel Comics logo was stitched onto one of the red nylon tongues with the Nike logo on the other. The original stitching on the Nike Swoosh and heel tab was removed with Crisoco adding yellow contrast stitching to the red Nike Swoosh and red contrast stitching to the black heel panel. Lastly a pair of custom insoles were created with embroidery that says Planet Of The Apes.

The overall design is sick and Chrisco did a great job with everything. You gotta respect the fact that he took the time to hand stitch everything on the sneakers and add some embroidery to the insoles instead of going with your usual painted designs. Little things like that make a huge difference when it comes to customs. Major detailed pictures follow after the break so make sure you check em out!!
